The Tolbooth Seafood Restaurant
A great seafood restaurant right by the water! If you're looking for somewhere to eat on the Friday night this is one of our favourite spots. Booking ahead is recommended.
Cairngorms National Park
The stunning Cairngorm mountains are practically in our backyard. Matt and I once drove his mum's Fiat500 through them in the dead of winter, which was quite the adventure! There's lots to do in the national park: hike, see wildlife, or visit castles like the famous Balmoral castle!
Fettercairn Distillery
Only a 5 minute walk from our castle, Fettercairn distillery has a lovely tasting room where you can sample some of their delicious scotch. They also do guided tastings for groups up to 14. It's one of our favourites!
Edzell Golf Club
If you fancy playing some golf club while in Scotland, this is a great course only 15 minutes away.
Dunnottar Castle
Only 25 minutes away is one of my favourite castles, with dramatic sea views and a cliff-top ruin. If you have time it's an unforgettable stop!
The Fife Arms
A boutique 5-star hotel in the heart of the Cairngorms, The Fife Arms is worth trekking out to for their bar The Flying Stag. There's also a sumptuous whisky bar and a michelin star restaurant!
Rocks of Solitude Walk (Blue Door)
One of the most beautiful hikes in the area, the blue door walk takes you through a mossy gorge and past the ruins of a folly. It's a must-do!
V&A Dundee
A recommendation from my brother George - Scotland's design museum is a great day out about 50 minutes away!
The House of Bruar
If you're looking to pick up souvenirs or want to do some shopping while you're here, House of Bruar is a bit of a trek but very much worth it! This massive shopping complex has a restaurant and a fish and chip shop too, so it's easy to make a day of it.
