Despite having a Michelin-quality dining room and hosting people from all over the world, Chico is distinctly Montanan and very casual. We're going to aim to look sharp for the ceremony while making sure we have the flexibility to stay cool if things are unseasonably warm and a way to bundle up if an early blizzard hits Emigrant Peak. The block of rooms we've reserved has a variety of options to choose from--some rooms are right in the main lodge which is connected to the hot spring pools and some of the rooms are in the lower lodge which is a short walk away from the main lodge. If you are trekking up from the Lower Lodge, warm socks are a good idea with sandals for walking poolside. Multiple soaks per day means your swimsuit may be wet when you go to put it on again, so a second swimsuit is never a bad idea. Some people like to bring bathrobes to put on as they exit the pool and walk to the poolside locker room or for the walk back to your private room. There's great hiking in the area near Chico and down in Yellowstone Park so you may want some sturdy shoes if you are planning on exploring.
Your presence is gift enough as we know getting out west is a big commitment of a lot of resources. If you can't make it for the wedding, please know that we can't wait to share a meal and some time with you soon. If giving gifts is a way that you like to celebrate, then we invite you to make a donation to REFURBISHED PETS OF SOUTHERN MICHIGAN. Every rescue dog that comes through their program is paired with incarcerated trainers for 10 weeks in the state correctional system, just like the correctional institution in Toledo where Matt teaches screenwriting. We believe so strongly in the positive impact of this partnership and this organization was a real comfort when we lost our Gunther last spring and is the organization we adopted our Evie from in late August and Arlo in January. We're a two-dog family now! https://rpsm.org/donate-now/
It can be sultry and it can be frigid. There's no telling. It may start hot and you could be buried in snow by lunchtime. It's an adventure but luckily Chico has everything you may need for almost anything that may come our way down the valley, but it's worthwhile to bring some warm and cozy clothes - even if just to get close to the fireplace to read or make your way to the hot springs.
