What airport should I fly into?

The final airport is Maringá (MGF). Many international guests will connect through São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) first.

Typically 12–18+ hours depending on layovers.

Do I need a visa to enter Brazil?

U.S. citizens currently do require a tourist visa. We recommend applying early.

Is it safe?

Maringá is considered one of the safer and more organized cities in Brazil. Like any city, use normal travel awareness.

We recommend arriving 1–2 days before the wedding. Bridal party members should arrive by September 21st.

We suggest 7 days if possible, but shorter trips are doable.

You can, but ATMs are available locally and credit cards are accepted pretty much everywhere

Early spring in Brazil — warm days up to 85°F degrees , cooler evenings but still warm 65°F

We’ll provide dress code details, but think elegant, Black Tie. Please do not wear white obviously, and avoid green as that is our bridal party color.

Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and cocktail hour is outdoors. The reception is indoors with AC.

Are children invited?

Children are welcome considering the distance of the trip but please let us know in advance so we may have accommodations and activities for them!

Will the ceremony be in English or Portuguese?

Both! The ceremony will be done in English and translated to Portuguese!

Is the water safe to drink?

Answer

Brazil commonly uses filtered and mineral water for drinking, and it is safe in most areas. That said, if you prefer to be extra cautious while traveling, bottled water is inexpensive and widely available throughout Maringá. Most hotels also provide filtered water options. Do whatever makes you feel most comfortable — staying hydrated is the only requirement.

Will my phone work in Brazil?

Most U.S. phones will work internationally if you have an international plan or roaming enabled. Check with your carrier beforehand. WiFi is widely available at hotels and restaurants.

What outlets do they use?

Brazil uses Type N and Type C plugs (127/220V). We recommend bringing a universal travel adapter.

Do I need to speak Portuguese?

Not at all! Knowing a few phrases is fun, but many hotel staff and vendors speak some English — and we’ll help you. If it helps have google translate on hand. Brazilians love trying to communicate with Americans just ask Sean!

Yes! Uber and ride-share services operate in Maringá. we recommend renting a car or walking depending on where you stay we will have a shuttle for the day of the wedding.
