We are sharing a few of our favorites with you, in case you want to venture out during your visit to the island. Puerto Rico es la Isla del Encanto por una razón! Es una isla preciosa y su gente es muy amable. Desde disfrutar de las hermosas maravillas naturales hasta disfrutar de vida nocturna, hay posibilidades ilimitadas de hacer cosas. The beachside community of Piñones, serving some of the best frituras (fritters and fried turnovers), chicken and pork skewers, fresh seafood, and fruit frappes in the region! (The most famous is El Boricua, which makes its fritters as they're ordered guaranteeing freshness and bold flavor, not to mention the portions are enormous.) There is also the Piñones State Forest, a mangrove forest that spans most of the Loíza coast, where visitors can bike, walk, or run the trail and boardwalk from Punta Cangrejo (where Piñones starts at the Loíza city limit) all the way to Vacía Talega beach.

Guavate is a barrio in Wilfredo's hometown of Cayey. It is the place to be on a Sunday! Trip Advisor ranks Guavate as #2 out of 19 things to do in Puerto Rico. It is known for its delicious pork, music, dancing, and open kiosks (many with handmade items). Because it is located in the mountains, the weather is typically milder and less humid. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon--strolling the street, sampling delicious cuisine, and doing a bit of shopping! Guavate es un barrio en Cayey, la ciudad natal de Wilfredo. ¡Es el lugar para estar un domingo! Es conocido por su delicioso cerdo, música, baile y quioscos abiertos (muchos con artículos hechos a mano). Debido a que se encuentra en las montañas, el clima es típicamente más suave y menos húmedo. Es una gran manera de pasar una tarde de domingo, pasear por la calle, probar deliciosa cocina y hacer un poco de compras!

Old San Juan (Viejo San Juan) is a historic district located in the northwest area of San Juan. It is a must see attraction, with brightly colored Spanish colonial styled homes lining cobblestone streets. There are many restaurants and open air cafes to enjoy as you explore the architecture, historical sites, museums and artwork. Shops also line the streets, selling traditional crafts (such as Taino sculptures and musical instruments), clothing and jewelry. El Viejo San Juan es un distrito histórico ubicado en la zona noroeste de San Juan. Es una atracción obligada, con casas de colores brillantes de estilo colonial español que bordean calles adoquinadas. Hay muchos restaurantes y cafeterías al aire libre para disfrutar mientras explora la arquitectura, los sitios históricos, los museos y las obras de arte. Las tiendas también bordean las calles, vendiendo artesanías tradicionales (como esculturas de Taino e instrumentos musicales), ropa y joyas.

Castillo San Felipe del Morro (known as El Morro) is located near Old San Juan overlooking the San Juan Bay. It is an iconic fort that was built by the Spanish to defend the island from naval attacks. Its construction began in 1539 and was completed in 1790. Guests are able to walk the exterior grounds for free and may tour the fort for a fee. Castillo San Felipe del Morro (conocido como El Morro) se encuentra cerca del Viejo San Juan con vistas a la Bahía de San Juan. Es un fuerte icónico que fue construido por los españoles para defender la isla de los ataques navales. Su construcción comenzó en 1539 y se completó en 1790. Los huéspedes pueden caminar por los jardines exteriores de forma gratuita y pueden visitar el fuerte por un suplemento.

El Yunque National Forest (Bosque Nacional El Yunque) is the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest System. It is located in the northeast area of the island on the slopes of the Sierra de Luquillo mountains. The rainforest boasts lush foliage, waterfalls, rivers beautiful views and walking trails. It is also known for its unique Taino petroglyphs. El Bosque Nacional El Yunque es la única selva tropical del Sistema Forestal Nacional de los Estados Unidos. Se encuentra en la zona noreste de la isla en las laderas de la Sierra de Luquillo. La selva tropical cuenta con exuberante follaje, cascadas, ríos hermosas vistas y senderos para caminar. También es conocido por sus petroglifos únicos de Taino.
