Mary and Ben met during the first week of medical school. Ben claims he told his friend that night, "Mary White is so cute." Later that year, as luck would have it, they were paired together at Sunday Breakfast Mission, one of Jefferson's free medical clinics. Every Tuesday night, they volunteered at clinic together, after which their conversations carried on to Moriarty's over beers. Things were going smoothly until Ben broke his foot while running with Groomsman Aaron Bhole and ended up on a "peg leg". Somehow, Mary was still interested, and Bridesmaid Sage Vincent coached her through every meticulously crafted text message. With first year of medical school winding down, everyone celebrated by attending a Phillies game. That night, over a bucket of Chickie's and Pete's fries, Ben and Mary had their first kiss, followed by their first date at Double Knot later in the week. Soon after that, Ben assured Groomsman Michael Velez that he would "marry Mary someday." And, in typical Philly fashion, they said I love you for the first time that summer outside of Wawa on 9th and Walnut. The rest is history! After four amazing years at Jefferson, Mary and Ben were so thankful to couples match at Yale to continue their training together in New Haven, CT. On May 28, 2022, Ben proposed in Washington Square Park in NYC, surprising Mary with a celebration with family and friends that night. It was truly the best weekend ever! We are so excited to get married back where it all began, and we cannot wait for you all to celebrate with us in Philly! Love, Mary & Ben
