Through 4 years at Cornell and the Cornell Lightweight Rowing Team, Olav was Alan's friend, roommate, and stroke seat. Always the mind of a mechanical engineer, Olav and Alan bonded over experiences combing through old yearbooks, requisitioning bicycles, or just hanging out in between rowing practices. Olav rowed Alan over the finish line for almost all of his races, and Alan drove Olav to all 3 of his driving license tests.
