Flight

Flight Information

Guests should plan to fly to Jose Maria Cordova International Airport (MDE). The airport is roughly 45 minutes away by car to the hotels. For those of you traveling from Texas, we have noticed that airfare from Austin (AUS) to Medellin (MDE) tends to be more affordable than from other Texas Cities. When planning your travel, it is often worth checking multiple departure airports.

Visa Information

For those of you who plan to join us for our special day in Colombia, please be sure to review the visa requirements if you are not a U.S. citizen. Colombia allows visa-free entry for tourism (up to 90 days) for citizens of many countries. However, some nationalities including citizens of Iran do require a visa. The process is fairly straight forward but does require applying well in advance (ideally no later than August 30th, 2025). If you need help with the application process or to ask any questions, please contact Camilo with Cross Migration Colombia via WhatsApp at +57 301 745 9332. He speaks English and will be able to provide you with more information. Please be sure to mention that you are an invited guest for the wedding of Maryam & Andrei.

Getting to the Hotels from the Airport

There are a few options to choose from for transportation from the airport to your hotel. Option one: Arrange private transportation with Feel Medellin at least a week before you arrive. They can be reached via WhatsApp by using https://wa.link/feelcontactus. Please be sure to mention that you are traveling for Andrei & Maryam's wedding. Also, the person making the reservation for your group should provide a photo of their passport to take advantage of the exemption from the IVA (tax on Colombian nationals). Option two: We have identified a few trusted drivers that we have met during our prior travels in Medellin who you can contact to arrange transportation ahead of time (note: their English may be a bit more limited, so we recommend using Google Translate). Their WhatsApp contact information can be found below: Vicky: +57 314-630-4236 Liliana: +57 314-780-6196 Omar: +57 300-786-6762 Ivan: +57 324-615-8649 Option 3: Take a white taxi from the airport. Avoid the guys inside the terminal asking if you want a taxi - there is a line of white taxis waiting outside. Instead, just make a left when you exit the terminal building and walk about 50 feet - usually it is around 130,000-150,000 COP (~$40 USD) to most parts of Medellin. Be sure to always ask the price before getting in and have the address to the hotel where you are staying. We recommend writing it down on paper and handing it to the driver to make it easy.

Getting around Medellin

In Medellin, we recommend using ridesharing apps. This is by far the best way to get around the city. There are two options for ridesharing -- Uber and a ride sharing app used by locals called DiDi. They are very affordable options and pretty easy to use. A few things to note about using these to get around the city. First, when you get in a rideshare be sure to have one passenger sit in the front passenger seat. Sitting up front will help the drivers avoid getting a ticket. Second, when you take a DiDi, you usually will pay in cash using Colombian pesos so be sure to have some cash on hand. Third, when you take a ride share don't slam the car doors -- this is a big no-no in Medellin :D
