Where we got engaged! Stop by here for some scenic views in a calm atmosphere. Although you can't actually go into the lighthouse (it's actively used by the coast guard), Rose Nulman Park is perfect for its views, picnics, or flying kites. You can even walk to a public beach to climb across the rock jetties or walk the shoreline!
This is one of the beaches that were the closest to Rebecca's houses in undergrad (she could even walk there from her senior year house!) In 2015, Andrew surprised Rebecca by coordinating a trip down to Rhode Island from Albany, NY without her knowing. Madison picked him up in Connecticut and the two of them snuck him into the house.. Needless to say, Rebecca was SHOCKED and a beach photoshoot was in order.
This was our very first trip to Rhode Island in 2012 and Misquamicut has a special place in our heart! We were about to enter our senior year of high school and had long conversations about our hopes (and fears) for our future together as the countdown begun to a long-distance relationship for the next 6 years.
A great breakfast place if you're traveling down to the beach for the afternoon! There's 3 locations, but we always visit the one off of Knowlesway Extension (close to Scarborough and Roger Wheeler). Rebecca loves the cinnamon bun French toast and Andrew's go-to order is the King Meldgie, a massive breakfast sandwich consisting of a bottom bagel, sausage/egg/cheese, toast, bacon/egg/cheese, and top bagel. They even have a challenge where you have to eat TWO King Meldgie's and two orders of homefries!
One of our favorite lunch or dinner spots when visiting Narragansett! We spent 3 years of New Years' Eve dinners here to end the year. They've got everything you could possibly want in a tavern atmosphere. Be sure to use the "Need Beer" and "Got Beer" signs as you are eating!
Rebecca's absolute favorite ice cream! Brickley's is known for their homemade waffle cones and creamy homemade ice cream. Rebecca's go-to order is a waffle cone with chocolate brownie and cake batter and Andrew goes for coffee Oreo in a dish!
If you miss welcome drinks on Friday (or just love it so much you want to go back), we recommend you check out Narragansett Brewery! Andrew's favorite thing about this brewery is its atmosphere- from its large taproom to its expansive patio to its welcoming beer garden, Narragansett Brewery has something for everyone. Andrew enjoys a refreshing IPA and Rebecca even has a new-found love for sour beers!
Right in downtown Providence, this is an easy walk for you to check out the Providence River! We spent some time here after touring wedding venues for the first time. Andrew says it's perfect for Poké stops for anyone who plays Pokémon Go!
Our go-to store to get all of your 'gansett gear! They have the cutest t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats to commemorate the weekend! Plus it's only a few minutes away from the beach and the University of Rhode Island where we spent a lot of time while being long distance!
Andrew's go-to hotel in Rhode Island! We usually stay here when we visit because of it's prime location (almost halfway between Providence and Narragansett) and we can easily access all of our favorite locations. Andrew loves this unconventional hotel as it is in an old Fruit of the Loom factory, complete with cement floors and exposed brick walls. If you're planning on extending your weekend away, we recommend staying here to be a little further south of the city!
