YES! Costa Rica is a different country and therefore you will need a valid passport. Plan ahead if yours will be expiring, as wait times are longer now due to COVID.
Please ensure you are up to date on your routine vaccines, and it is also recommended to get a meningitis booster vaccine for adults (this is very serious as it can cause permanent deafness). See more here: https://www.passporthealthusa.com/destination-advice/costa-rica/
It helps, but the majority of people understand English.
Nope, please do not bring gifts! Your gift to us is for you to be able to attend and enjoy our wedding. If you would like to purchase a gift, please check out our registry, or send us a card to: Hallie & Dayton Wiseman 8009 SE Yamhill St Portland, OR 97215
Of course! Be sure to use #marriedinHD when you post so that we can find them all!
Temperatures during February in La Fortuna, Costa Rica are between 72°F-91°F, so plan accordingly!
We would like all guests to wear 'Tropical Formal". Our wedding party will be in maroon and black [in case you don't want to match]. So, what is tropical formal, you may ask? GENTS: Suits in the tropics can be lighter in color and weight, for example, a light grey linen suit or button-up is acceptable for a tropical formal event. Tropical print bow ties are encouraged. Example: https://bit.ly/3dkGoBP LADIES: Think about wearing a light-weight, bright-colored dress [but no neon, please]. We recommend a plain-colored dress rather than a print dress to photograph well against the greenery. Be sure to have comfortable shoes for dancing! Example: https://bit.ly/3k2cMvy
-Transportation: If you plan on extending your time or having more flexibility, we recommend renting a car to get around. If you choose not to, Costa Rica has Uber available. -Stay: We recommend staying at Montana de Fuego rather than The Springs Resort, as that's where we will have our shuttles to the Welcome Party set up. -Other misc tips: First, definitely bring a car charger with you. Also, if you have music on your phone that doesn't require WiFi that will be helpful as the stations go in and out and are all in Spanish. Everyone in Costa Rica uses the App "Waze" to get around. Check our Travel, Schedule, and Things to Do sections of the website for all of the details!
Many areas have clean tap water, but we recommend filling up your water bottles from dedicated water filling stations or buying bottled water from the stores (although that isn't the most eco-friendly option!) :)
We realize that traveling to Costa Rica is far and expensive! Please, please feel free to invite other friends and family to your trip, especially if you plan on staying after the wedding for an extended vacation! We only ask that those invited to the wedding come to the pre-planned events as we have limited capacity.
Montana de Fuego will be able to offer childcare for the wedding, and possibly for other events like the Wedding Party. If you want to coordinate with them, you can email reservaciones@montanadefuego.com.
