Matt (a Chicago native) had transplanted to Virginia to dance with the Richmond Ballet in 2012. That same year, Hannah (a Virginia native) moved to Chicago to dance with Ballet Chicago's studio company for her senior year of high school. There was a gravitational pull that brought her back to Virginia... and that was Matthew. They first met at the Richmond Ballet and shared their first kiss as the "Butler & the Maid" in, The Nutcracker. It must have been so extraordinary; Matt forgot it even happened ;) Hannah always asserted that she would never date a dancer…mission failed. Some time passed between them being co-workers, as Hannah left the ballet world behind (due to an injury) and embarked on her college path. The city where they met insisted upon their paths reconnecting. On a whim, Hannah drove down to Richmond to see an art gallery at Candella Books. The exhibit was featuring Paul Thulin, who would later go on to be one of her college professors at Virginia Commonwealth University. She messaged Matt to see if he would be interested in joining her, since they both shared a love of art and photography. In true Matthew Frain fashion, he arrived 15 minutes late. The night was filled with some of their favorite activities; an art gallery, going out to dinner, seeing a show AND a movie! It was an epic first date that set the tone for their relationship to follow. A lot of life happened after that first date took place. Career changes, COVID 19, moving in together, graduating college, acquiring some pets (a small zoo), purchasing their first home together in rural Virginia, and of course, what brings you to their website, a proposal. They knew they wanted to get married not far from the city that is responsible for their love story. The venue is only 15 minutes from their home and is the perfect spot to celebrate their love with the people who have supported them along the way! They now live in Goochland, Virginia with their dogs, cats, chickens and turkeys. They can't wait to celebrate with you <3
