The Stonewall Panoramic Trail is the best way to get all the views of the Bay - from the Golden Gate and Marin to the rolling hills of the Peninsula! Forewarning, this is quite the hike, although short in distance, it makes up for it in elevation gain.
Historic Richmond was home to a large naval base during World War II, and it was the many women working in its factories that inspired the icon, Rosie the Riveter. If you're a history buff, this museum is not to be missed!
San Francisco is just across the bay, and is easily accessible by public transit. From the Downtown Berkeley BART (right across the street from the Shattuck Plaza hotel), you can be in downtown SF in just over 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the ferry from Oakland's Jack London Square. There is so much to do - the Mission District, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, etc.
A Berkeley landmark. This bustling pizza joint makes only one type of pie per day (ALWAYS TASTY). Don't be fooled by the line, it moves fast.
One of many spots for libations in the hip Gilman area which has breweries, urban wineries, and galleries. Best IPAs in the Bay! Lots of space with a fun patio.
Another great brewery in the Gilman neighborhood. Many dogs!
A beautiful space with delicious organic wines. This, along with neighboring Broc Cellars are only open Fri-Sun from 1-6pm.
Tasty (and sometimes funky) organic urban winery.
The East Bay has GREAT dive bars where locals enjoy watching their beloved sports teams. The King Fish may be the crown jewel of them all. With a huge back patio, this joint offers a variety of shot and beer specials that may have you wobbling on your bar stool. Mark is not allowed here before the wedding.
Another great dive bar.
Hoi Polloi holds a special place in our hearts as it was our first neighborhood taproom. Don't be dissuaded by the term "beat lounge" or the plethora of hipsters - this is some of the best beer around. Feel free to bring in take-out from the creole spot right next door.
