New Orleans was founded in 1718 by French Colonist and then sold to the US, by Napoleon, in the Louisiana purchase of 1803. The Port of New Orleans, located in the center of the lower Mississippi River, is one of the busiest in the world. It handles 50,000 barges and 1,000,000 cruise passengers a year! Up until WWII, New Orleans was the biggest city in the South. Much like my mother, Marisa grew up coming to New Orleans with her mother and sisters. She loves the magical history, charm and Creole cuisine. We chose Arnaud's as our Welcome Dinner because: 1.) It could fit all of us. 2.) My mother would come here with her family as a young girl. My grandfather would bring all 6 of em' to Arnaud's as a special treat. 3.) I'm more of a dessert guy myself, and Arnaud's has Bananas Fosters. Mix in a little family history and BANG! You got a welcome spot. On behalf of Marisa and I, we're so honored you came to celebrate with us. Love to you all!
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Black-Tie Optional: Tuxes and gowns are preferred, but not required.
Welcome to the only place worthy of my bride's beauty. The Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, was built in 1789 and raised to cathedral rank in 1793. This makes it the oldest cathedral in the United States. Facing the Mississippi River, in Jackson Square, it's the only place in the country fit for my Queen.
4:00 pm - 4:45 pm
Black Tie Optional.
Here we'll gather and prepare for our second line parade to Marché.
4:45 pm - 5:30 pm
Black Tie Optional. Ladies be warned, the French Quarter has a lot of cobblestone streets.
To symbolize our new beginning as man and wife, following the ceremony, we'll have a New Orleans tradition. The second line parade will take us to the reception. The second line parade consists of two parts: 1. The "mainline" or "first line" of the parade is the band and honored guests, the Bride and Groom. 2. The "second line" will be all of you dancing and parading behind us. The parade will take us from the ceremony to the reception at Marché, 3 blocks away. The juice is worth the squeeze. Cocktails in Dutch Alley after the parade. Flats and bike taxies will be available if needed.
5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Black Tie Optional.
The destination of our second line parade is historic Dutch Alley. Inside the French Market, this stone alleyway is a perfect spot to hydrate. Here we'll settle in with some cocktails and get ready for the reception upstairs at Marché.
Sat, Feb 29, 2020, 6:30 pm - Sun, Mar 1, 2020, 1:00 am
Dancing shoes required.
Upstairs we'll be seated for dinner and a lil' dancing for dessert. For those guests who would like to keep the train movin', the after party is on Bourbon Street, a couple of blocks away.
10:00 am - 1:00 pm
No shirt, no shoes, no service.
Eggs, bacon, coffee or a Bloody Mary. There's no better time to say good-bye than after a good breakfast. We'll all sit back and soak up our memories of our cosmic loop through time. A day only to be seen again in 4 years. Thanks for celebrating with the Briggs'. Love!
