Things To Do

Whether it's your first time visiting DC or your tenth, our nation's capital is full of history, great food, and charming neighborhoods to explore. Check out some of our favorite spots while you're in town!

National Mall

Washington, DC

When we lived in Arlington, we'd go on 7 mile walks to and from the mall. October will have the perfect weather for a long walk to see the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, and more. From the Mayflower, walk exactly 1 mile south on 17th St and you'll end up directly at the Washington Monument. You'll be on the mall and from there, the world is your oyster!

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20500

Just a 10 minute walk from our venue! Strolling past the White House is the perfect morning walk activity. If you contact your congressman early enough, you may even be able to schedule a tour while you're in town.

United States Botanic Garden

100 Maryland Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20001

Mar's favorite thing to do in DC! If you're walking on the mall towards the Capitol, stop by the Botanic Gardens and walk around the tropics house, medicinal plant exhibit, deserts house, and the gorgeous garden court.

Smithsonian National Zoological Park

3001 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

On our third date, we went to the zoo! We have too many inside jokes from that day. Spend the morning seeing the pandas. Make sure you reserve your tickets online in advance! It's free, but same-day tickets are not possible.

Dupont Circle

Washington, DC 20036

The Mayflower is in the heart of the charming Dupont Circle neighborhood. We love walking around the farmer's market on Sundays or just people watching. It's a cute, historic neighborhood with a ton of great restaurants, coffee shops, and bars.

Georgetown

Washington, DC 20007

No trip to DC is complete without a shopping spree in Georgetown! Walk down the pretty cobblestone streets along the river or canals, or go out for a fun brunch at Brasserie Liberte, Peacock Cafe, or Martin's Tavern.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe

1301 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

Need a quick coffee nearby? Tatte is just a 5 minute walk away.

Dolcezza Gelato & Coffee

1704 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

A local classic not just for gelato, but coffee as well! The iced vanilla lattes are our favorite.

Bagels Etc.

2122 P Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20037

Everyone is going to tell you to get a bagel at Call Your Mother. Don't listen to them. To all of our Jersey loved ones – get your bacon, egg, and cheese at Bagels Etc. and thank me later. Bring cash!

Spot of Tea

2101 P Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20037

To our bubble tea lovers, grab one here. Order a milk tea or a matcha after a Bagels Etc. run.

Cucina Morini

901 4th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Our favorite Italian restaurant in DC! Go to the lounge before your reservation for a $7 martini and take it to your table for dinner. Order the cappelletti with truffle and bombolini for dessert.

Astoria

1521 17th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

Arguably the best Asian food in DC – maybe even the best food, period. If you have bad luck with getting a reservation on Resy, try to walk in. Recommend going with a group so you can try everything on the menu.

Lupo Pizzeria

1908 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

One of our early dates and a spot we keep coming back to. Order a pizza and a spritz for a super casual dinner!

Le Diplomate

1601 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

A DC classic – a Parisian style brasserie perfect for a night out. Skip the fancy stuff and get the burger.

Nino's Bakery

1310 L Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

If you want the best croissant you can get outside of France, stop by Nino's Bakery. Make sure to go early because they will sell out before 11:00 AM.

[solidcore]

1255 23rd Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20037

Anyone want to join Mar at [solidcore] on the morning of the wedding?
