Bridesmaid
Near and Dear to Marian's heart! They have been friends ever since they worked together at the ill-fated Borders.com Customer Service...Through myriad ups and downs, friendship has made life better.
Bridesmaid
Marian and Charlene met in 8th grade and groused about the small-mindedness of the world, as teenagers do. They bonded over esoteric bands, art, and counter-culture; as time has evolved, domestic affairs took precedence, with art always in the picture. Char, I'm so excited you're here!
Bridesmaid
Hampshire College would have been a different world for Marian without Ann (and Angel). Marian first moved to Ann Arbor, MI, at the behest of Ann & Angel ---> and she wouldn't have discovered her future home, and met Rick without them!
Bridesmaid
My big sis! She watched after me, helped with homework, and shot triangle notes underneath our separate bedroom doors... It's amazing to have come so far & I'm so grateful you're here.
Bridesmaid
After the groom, the second best thing about getting married is expanding one's family. I'm so happy to have gained a sister-in-law and friend in Anne! (From Rick: sorry I disappointed you by not being a girl, but now hopefully Marian can be the little sister you never had! Love you Dr. Sperling).
Best Man
My oldest brother Mike was more like a second father to me than a brother growing up — even better, a parent who was just fun and never punished me. It has been a joy watching him become a wonderful grandparent — and a second grandparent for Celie.
Best Man
Gene, me and my Mom have always had a fast-paced, driven style that was different than Mike, Anne and My Dad. Besides all of the impressive things Gene has done, he has been a great role model for me in showing that it is possible to adapt that style into being a “family man” who is there for the people he loves — even while trying to change the world.
Groomswoman
My beloved daughter Ana is all grown up and everything. So happy you came into my life and so proud of the woman you have become. Looking forward to sharing your next chapter of "adulting" and being a big sister and fun aunt.
Groomswoman
JoAnn is my sister from another mother (and father). Since she met my mother as a teenager when I was just a squirt, I haven’t been able to get rid of her — and now am happily stuck with a brother-in-law and grown nephew/nieces as well.
Groomswoman
Kelly, we've stood by each other since Community High School, through ups and downs and everything in between. I could not have hoped for better, wiser or more patient friend than you.
Ring Bearer
When we thought about ring bearers, Rick's wonderful niece Nina immediately topped the list. She is thoughtful, conscientious, and a joyful family member. We're thrilled that you'll be performing this meaningful act for us, and that you'll accompany Cecelia down the aisle.
Flower Girl
Our 5 year old daughter Celie often knows people before we do, so you may not need an introduction. Here's our smart, creative, and loopy flower girl, who is more-than-ready to do some cake tasting, scout out hiding places in the hotel, and who is probably scheming about alternative plans for the flowers.
Father of the Bride
I'm overjoyed that my Dad is taking part in our wedding. Thanks for pulling yourself away from your train books, political commentary, and tomes on World War II ! It means the world to me that you, Mom, and Evelyn are here. Love you, Dad!
Aunt of the Groom
I am so thrilled that my Aunt Irene will be walking me down the aisle. If you don’t know Irene yet, you will be friends with her by the end of the wedding weekend. In the dictionary next to “effervescent” there is a picture of Irene. But more than anything, Irene typifies my parents' generation in my family, which wrapped me, my siblings, and cousins in so much love and support that we knew we could do anything.
