Hästens Sleep Spa ($$$$)
Hästens Sleep Spa is the first and only hotel in the world where you can fully enjoy the Hästens Sleep Spa experience. Hästens is a Swedish manufacturer of premium beds, bed linen and pillows established in 1852. The hotel design has been inspired by the "Biblioteca Joanina", the Joanin Library that also inspired the Harry Potter book series. It has a lovely rooftop with beautiful views of Coimbra's downtown. This is a nice hotel located in the "upper" area of Coimbra near the university. For those of you that have been to Portugal you will know there are a lot of hills in Portuguese cities. It is a bit more high end (approx. 150-250 Euros per night), but you will certainly have lovely views over the city from their great rooftop. Pharmacia GuestHouse ($$)
This is a very cute Boutique Hotel built in the space where an old pharmacy (Farmacia Nazareth) was located. Many old features and objects were restored to maintain some of the essence of the pharmacy. It has a total of 8 bedrooms available (7 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom). Casa da Baixa - Downtown House ($$)
The Downtown House is in two beautiful medieval buildings. The space was renovated, but many of the original characteristics were kept. This boutique hotel includes 11 bedrooms: 7 double bedrooms and other 3 larger ones for families. Prices vary from 75 to 125 Euros per night. This is a small guesthouse which is ideal for those travelling with family, as they have small apartments that can fit 2+ guests. There are 3 apartments available with prices that vary from 95 to 130 Euros per night.
ZERO Box Lodge Coimbra ($)
Inspired by the Japanese Capsule Hotel, the Zero Box Lodge Hotel is a different type of lodging where all bedrooms are minimalistic wooden boxes for two people in a larger open space (although bathrooms are private). The space was originally a garage and was reinvented by the architect Goncalo Carvalho. There are 30 boxes in this hotel and the price is 60 Euros per night. Palacio Sao Silvestre - Boutique Hotel ($$$)
We didn't include this venue originally as it was sold out. This is a great option for a nicer hotel. It is closer to the venue, but further away from the city center so might not be ideal if you don't have a car. Some friends and family members are staying in this hotel!
