FAQs

The Wedding Website of Maria Minadeo and Theodosia Mayfield
Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please plan to arrive at 6:20 p.m. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail Attire: Wear cocktail dresses, LBDs, dressy jumpsuits or sundresses, and dark jackets and slacks. If possible, we ask that you wear something you already have in your closet or that you can purchase second-hand to follow the Sustainability theme of our wedding. Note that the Ceremony will take place outdoors on the veranda, so please dress for the weather! A coat check is available inside the lobby.

Question

Can I bring a date/plus one?

Answer

If your invitation includes a plus one, please remember to include them in your RSVP. If you did not receive a plus one invite...don't worry! We have a few extra spots available. Please reach out to Maria ASAP and we will happily add your guest to the list.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

This is primarily an adults-only wedding.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes, we have a block reserved at the Courtyard by Mariott at Rowan University/Downtown Glassboro for September 18-20. To book online, please click the "Travel" tab at the top of this site. You can also call the hotel directly at 856-881-0048 and ask to reserve a room in the Minadeo/Mayfield block. NOTE: The link will not work if you're using a VPN!

Question

How do I get from the hotel to the venue?

Answer

We will provide a shuttle for guests from the hotel to the venue. In the spirit of sustainability, this is our preferred method of transport. For our friends and family who are local to the area - you are welcome to park your car at the Nexus/Rowan Blvd. parking garage and take the shuttle as well! Just let us know in advance that you plan on doing this in advance so we can make sure we have enough seats.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes, the general public parking lot at the front of the museum is available to us. There are handicap parking spaces there as well.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

PLEASE DO! While we cannot guarantee that we can accomodate all special requests, we will work with our caterer to make sure your dish is free of allergens.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Yes! We're registerred right here on Zola. You can see it by clicking "Registry" at the top of this page.

Question

Is your registry complete? It looks like you're missing...well, everything.

Answer

Yes! We don't need - or want - any physical gifts. Your presence truly is enough of a gift to us. That said, for those who do still want to contrubute, we have a series of cash funds set up - some for donations to our favorite non-profits, and some for financial support for our honeymoon.

Question

So...dinosaurs?

Answer

DINOSAURS! And non-dinosaur prehistoric creatures, too. And fossils, and modern-day extinct animals, and depressing statistics about climate change :)

Question

Can we visit the museum? What will I see?

Answer

Yes!! We have reserved exclusive access for our guests to the first (main) floor of the museum, available from cocktail hour through the reception. This main exhibit includes three rooms: land life, sea life, and the Hall of Extinction & Hope.

Question

What's the deal with this "Sustainability" theme?

Answer

The short answer: We're tree-hugging millennials who are mad at the government, climate change deniers, and the wedding industry. The long answer: The idea of having a low-budget, eco-conscious wedding came to our minds pretty early in the planning process. Given our status as an LGBT+ couple, we didn't think it was worth the effort to try to host a "traditional" wedding by any standards. When we decided to have our wedding at Edelman Fossil Park & Museum (EFM), well, that sealed the deal. EFM is a carbon-neutral building with a huge emphasis on protecting the environment as well as we can today, "because there is no Planet B." As volunteers, members, and fans of the museum, we decided to challenge ourselves to create our wedding to fit within EFM's standards. We love this museum because we love nature and natural history. As you'll see when you visit the exhibits, the museum isn't just about creatures of the past - it's about learning from the past to protect our future. In addition to our wonderfully sustainable venue, our caterer, 12th St. Catering, is also environmentally friendly, specializing in locally-sourced foods. We chose to have a predominantly vegetarian menu for this reason as well. We're not leaving the work up to our hosts, though - we're putting in plenty of work ourselves. Our invitations were made from old books. Our decor - from centerpieces to bouquets - are created entirely from secondhand materials. And of course, anything that we did need to purchase was done locally or direct from the manufacturer - no Amazon, Walmart, Target involved at ALL! This is something we're extremely proud of. We hope that you'll join us on this Sustainability journey. We invite you to lend a hand by refraining from physical gifts and wearing clothing you already own or obtain secondhand.
