We are so excited for our winter wedding! You are all special to us and we couldn't imagine celebrating this day without you.
Margo was working in oil and gas as a sales rep and Eric worked for one of her clients. She frequently visited Samuel Engineering, but had never actually met Eric. After a few visits, she developed a friendship with two women that worked there who often mentioned that she and Eric would be the perfect match. They organized a happy hour where the two of them could meet for the first time. Throughout their courtship, Eric did a great job of pursuing Margo and although she took her sweet time, she finally agreed to a date on June 1, 2016, at Linger in LoHi. Sipping cocktails with rosemary sprigs and reveling in talks of travels abroad and outdoor adventures, they knew it was the beginning of something wonderful.
Margo and Eric's first camping trip set the stage for their future adventures. Grace will tell you she was nervous that Margo was bringing a "new guy" on their annual 4th of July camping trip...but was pleasantly surprised at how helpful, kind, and funny Eric was. When he started chopping wood without being asked, Margo knew he was the real deal. From there, their affection and adventurous lifestyle blossomed. They hiked from Aspen to Crested Butte and back, skied and ate their way through Switzerland, sauntered around Paris, hiked to glaciers and fished in Alaska, mountain biked in Moab, and skied epic terrain in Japan. When they rescued their sweet mutt, Copper, they began to incorporate him into their adventurous lifestyle. Eric had always been kind and sweet to Margo, but showed his true colors when Margo suffered an elbow injury last year and a knee injury this year. Thinking about what she needed before she had to ask, Eric was amazingly supportive and incredibly helpful during her recovery periods. Eric and Margo compliment each other in the best possible ways. Eric is calm and collected, and helps bring balance to Margo's energetic personality. Margo has a zest for life and helps push Eric out of his comfort zone. What they share is their love and respect for each other, their passion for adventure, and their youthful humor that they hope never fades. They often say that they are so lucky to have found each other - and they truly are.
Like all guys ready to pop the question, I wanted to find the perfect setting and have the proposal be a surprise. But with Margo being such a planner and a sharp cookie, that's no easy task. The ring had been shipped to Shawn O'Keefe in California and we made a stealthy exchange while wine tasting in November 2018. [Pro tip: having the ring shipped out of state saves sales tax]. Thank you, Shawn. In December 2018, I felt like the time was finally right. I suggested an afternoon hike on our land, something we often do with our fur-baby, Copper, to not raise suspicion. It seemed fitting that I propose on our new property; the site of our future home where we will raise our kids. As the sun was going down, and we weren’t far down the trail, I suggested we turn back multiple times; no headlamp, it was cold, we needed beer, etc. I think she was on to me, but she played along. When we reached the future home site I stopped her, said some very romantic and cheesy things (I’ll spare you), and dropped to one knee: will you marry me? She said yes, and here we are! We are so excited to celebrate with all of our friends and family on January 11th and for the endless adventures to come (everything’s an adventure with Margo).
