Why It's Special to Us:
When we met neither of us knew we shared a Puerto Rican heritage. Over the course of our relationship, sharing this culture has been a special point of connection for us. From debating who will eat the last tostones, dancing salsa music together, filling our home with Latin jazz Puerto Rican artists, speaking Spanglish to each other, and visiting Anthony's parents in Coco Beach-- Puerto Rico connects us to each other. We can't wait to share this special place with all of you!

History & Architecture:
Puerto Rican architect Pedro de Castro designed the Casa de España building in 1932 for a civic and cultural organization. Spanish Moorish architecture inspired de Castro's design, most notable for its towers, interior courtyard gallery and extensive use of colored tile. The organization, continues to include members that are Puerto Ricans of Spanish descent. It has played an important role in keeping Puerto Rico's Spanish cultural heritage alive.
