Ganesh Puja & Haldi (Friday Event #1)
This is a semi-formal event where we encourage vibrant, fun prints. Please dress in your favorite shades of yellow, orange, tan, or white. Click on "View" to check out our Pinterest board for inspiration. Women: Kurta or sharara set, saree, cocktail dress or maxi dress. Men: Kurta set, or khaki pants with a linen or guayabera-style shirt. Button-down shirts are also welcome, in either short or long sleeves. Será un evento semi-formal donde te animamos a usar estampados vibrantes y divertidos. Por favor viste tus tonos favoritos de amarillo, naranja, beige o blanco. Baraat, Ceremony & Reception (All Saturday events)
This event is tropical formal, have fun with bright colors and vibrant prints! Avoid white, as it's reserved for the bride. If you're deciding between Indian or non-Indian attire, we recommend non-Indian for Saturday. It will be a long day, so comfort is key. What are some helpful terms when looking for Indian outfits?
- The “indowestern” sections of the sites tend to have fun, modern looks. This is great for guests that want something festive but familiar. - Lehenga: A traditional garment consisting of a three-piece ensemble: a long, ankle-length skirt (the lehenga), a fitted blouse or top (the choli), and a long scarf (the dupatta). The skirts are heavy would be harder to pack to Colombia so keep that in mind! - Saree/sari: Garment consisting of a length of cotton or silk elaborately draped around the body. This would be more friendly for packing purposes. Look out for "ready to wear" or "stitched" so you can easily put them on. - Sharara set: Three-piece outfit consisting of a short or long kurti (tunic), wide-legged, flared pants called sharara bottoms, and a dupatta (scarf). - Kurta set: A traditional Indian outfit with a long tunic and coordinating pants. - Sherwani: A traditional Indian long coat worn over a kurta, usually paired with fitted pants. More formal than a kurta set.
