Things To Do

The San Diego area is special to both Michael and Kim—individually and together. From July 2015 to November 2016, Michael lived in San Diego while completing BUD/S and SQT with many of the men who will stand beside him on their wedding day. It became the land of breakfast burritos, training trips, and his first real home as an adult. San Diego is part of Kim’s story too. With Jack stationed here during her nursing school years, she often drove down on weekends to visit — seeing him off on deployments and spending hours studying in local coffee shops with a strong cup of coffee always nearby. In 2024, San Diego became home again when they moved from Virginia Beach for Kim’s second tour as a Navy Nurse. Their weekends consisted of long runs, coffee at Revolution Roasters, and slow Sunday breakfasts at Café Topes with Chaps and Becky. This corner of Southern California is deeply special to them and sharing it with you as they step into marriage is one of their greatest joys.

Our Sunday ritual: Church followed by two orders of Crack and Eggs. It became the weekly tradition for us — and we can’t recommend it enough.

The best and strongest cold brew a girl could ever ask for!

Tamarack Beach Carlsbad

Our weekly run spot! This beach has it all — from all‑weekend volleyball tournaments to early‑morning surf competitions. Easily one of our favorite stretches of coastline in all of California.

Vigilucci's Seafood & Steakhouse

3878 Carlsbad Boulevard, Carlsbad, CA 92008

One of our favorite Italian spots right across the water. Home to some fantastic pasta, seafood dishes, and of course red wine!

Cafe Elysa

A perfect spot to enjoy a sunny patio coffee while people‑watching.

The Goods

A phenomenal local bakery known for its iconic brown‑butter donut — and they’re wonderfully GF‑friendly!

The Naked Cafe

300 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008

The ultimate California‑casual, granola‑vibes breakfast joint… aka Kim’s personal heaven. If we weren't at Cafe Topes, we were here sharing a huge plate of GF pancakes and downing endless cups of coffee.

Wilson Creek Winery

35960 Rancho California Road, Temecula, CA 92591

A great winery in the Temecula Valley wine country to spend some time at if you're coming in a few days before the celebration or staying a few days after.

Longshadow Ranch Winery

39847 Calle Contento, Temecula, CA 92591

Another lovely winery in the Temecula Valley, where Kim has enjoyed an exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon on more than one occasion.
