Matron of Honor
Maggie's older sister aka her built in BFF. Liz has always been the more responsible one, but she will be (mostly) kid free on September 2nd so anything can happen!
Best Man
Matt's older brother. Matt's favorite childhood memory of Chris was when he played the Tin Man in the elementary school Wizard of Oz play. There are rumors that every 30 seconds someone on the Earth is talking about his performance (and its usually Matt).
Bridesmaid
One of Maggie's best friends from The Ohio State University. They lived on the same floor freshmen year in the dorms. Lauren is from NJ and spent many holidays and breaks with Maggie's family during college. Lauren is pumped Maggie is marrying a Jersey boy.
Best Man
Matt's younger brother and easily the favorite child of parents Paul and Lisa Soderman. If Lisa and Paul had Andy as their first baby they would have stopped having kids for sure and Matt and Chris would cease to exist.
Bridesmaid
Maggie and Kayla met through Teach For America in 2012. They lived together with 3 other friends (and about 2,000 mice) in what was known as The Red House. They've been best friends since. Steer clear of Kayla when she is whipping her hair on the dance floor.
Groomsman
Matt's cousin. Pete sees endless possibilities in how many hot dogs can fit on one single bun every year during the family camping trip to Saranac Lake. He would definitely take down Joey Chestnut in Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest. He will go last in serving himself on Friday at the bbq.
Bridesmaid
Jordan and Maggie met at The Ohio State University through their sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. They lived together 3 out of 4 years of college and traveled Europe together. Luckily they both ended up in Colorado post college! Jordan loves love and will be the one crying non stop the whole wedding.
Groomsman
Matt and Zach met at the University of Scranton. Technically they became "friends" on Facebook just prior to freshman year. It still debated to this day who begged the other one to be their friend upon arrival at college.
Bridesmaid
Maggie's best friend from her hometown of Dublin, OH. They met playing volleyball in 9th grade and have been best friends ever since. Lindz still plays volleyball competitively so watch out for her Friday during Wedding Olympics.
Groomsman
Joe and Matt met at the University of Scranton where they played rugby together and became close friends. Throughout college they would play pranks on each other one of which included scaring the other one with a Jabawockeez mask. If you don't know what that is just google it. Oddly enough, Joe is a pretty good dancer would give the Jabawockeez a run for their money.
Bridesman
Maggie and Jeff met in Teach For America in 2012. They both taught high school math at the same school during training in AZ, then the same school in Colorado Springs for 2 yrs, and then of course followed each other and taught together in Denver for another 5 yrs. Although she is no longer a teacher, Maggie still shows up every first day of school to take a picture of Jeff. Jeff is mostly excited to wear a floral robe while getting ready.
Groomsman
Nick grew up down the street from Matt and they've been friends since childhood. Delvec can name any WWE wrestler's special move and can beat anyone in sports trivia. For this reason, neither wrestling or sports trivia will be included in Wedding Olympics.
Bridesmaid
Maggie and Mere first met playing softball in elementary school in Ohio (Mere had a very scary fast pitch). They both joined Kappa Alpha Theta at Ohio State and moved to Colorado post college. Mere has since traded in her softball glove for hiking. She has hiked THIRTY 14ers. A "14er" is a mountain who's peak exceeds 14,000 feet in elevation. Steamboat is only 6,732 feet in elevation so Mere's lungs will definitely allow her to dance the night away.
Groomsman
Kyle and Matt grew up together in New Jersey and shared several odd jobs. They shared a summer job where they both worked in a windowless copy room at a law firm where they scanned documents and fixed paper jams for hours. Despite the mundane day to day responsibilities they managed to always have fun which sums up their friendship perfectly.
Bridesmaid
Becky and Maggie met teaching high school in Denver in 2014 and immediately hit it off. They play in a volleyball league together every week. Becky is the ultimate YES friend and is always down for an adventure. Do you want to go to Hawaii? yes. Do you want to go cross country skiing with me even though you don't have the right skis? yes. Do you want to get a puppy during COVID that matches my dog so they can be best friends? yes.
Groomsman
Dan and Matt grew up together and became friends at a really young age. Matt definitely thought he was as athletic as Dan up until his junior year of high school football where Dan blossomed into a world class football player. He eventually made it to the NFL (no joke) where he played on the NY Giants practice squad and won a super bowl--yes he has a ring.
Bridesmaid
Ronnie and Maggie met through Kappa Alpha Theta at The Ohio State University. Ronnie and Matt immediately bonded over their skater years and their exact same taste in music (which they discovered last summer when they all went to see Third Eye Blind at Red Rocks). Unfortunately for Ronnie (who is a professional video game player), video games will not be part of our Friday evening Wedding Olympics.
Potential Ring Bearer
Maggie's nephew. Sully will be 9 months old in Steamboat. While Liz is probably hoping he won't be walking by then (because chasing toddlers is hard), Maggie and Matt are hoping he can strut down the aisle and bring up those rings.
Flower Girl
Maggie's 4 year old niece. Rowan would NEVER miss an opportunity to wear a pretty dress.
Flower Girl
Maggie's 2 year old niece. Mackenzie can't wait to throw flowers and be the center of attention.
Parents of the Bride
Michael and Mary Ann are both originally from Chicago. They moved to Ohio when Liz and Maggie were in elementary school and then returned to Chicago when they were officially empty nesters. Now they enjoy retirement in Broomfield, CO. Maggie likes to take credit for convincing her entire family to move to CO, but let’s be honest Michael and Mary Ann are here for the grandkids.
Parents of the Groom
Lisa and Paul are New Jersey natives. They raised their 3 wild boys (Lisa is a saint) in Verona, NJ. Now they are living their retirement dream at the Shore.
Officiant
Maggie's brother-in-law. Shawn joined the Dering crew almost 10 years ago and Maggie can’t imagine their fam without him. Shawn and Matt both work in the financial industry. Nothing gets the two of them more pumped than a good beer and a solid retirement plan. Matt considers Shawn an all-star dad and husband. Shawn’s funny, outgoing personality will make this the perfect role for him (plus let’s be honest, no one loves to hear themselves talk as much as Shawn).
