Things To Do

Captain Cook Monument Trail

Captain Cook Monument Trail

Napoopoo Road, Captain Cook, HI 96704

We went snorkeling at Captain Cook our first time we went to Hawaii together. While we didn't do the tour, we took a kayak out and met up in the same area the tours were at. This was a really great snorkeling spot. Very colorful fish and a ton of different species!

This is where Kale and I tested our relationship with kayaking.... and look at us now! This is how we rented a kayak and brought our own snorkel gear and met up with the snorkel tours. They also have snorkel gear available for rent. The kayak out to the snorkel spot was about 25 minutes both ways. If you get out and snorkel you will have to pull the kayak with you as you swim. You don't have to do both by any means, you could absolutely just do the kayak!

Kealakekua Bay

Kealakekua Bay

78-7138 Kaleiopapa Street, Kailua-Kona, HI 96704

We have not done this exact tour, but it is another option to explore Captain Cook if you don't want to kayak. Explore the waters off the Big Island on this combo tour. You cruise out and along the coastline on a speedboat. Look for caves, cliffs, whales, dolphins and other marine life along the way. Afterwards, jump into the clear waters and explore the underwater world as you snorkel around. Snacks, drinks and snorkel equipment are all included.

Manta Ray Night Snorkel Tours

Maggie wants to do this and would love to go during wedding week! Kale and some of his family did this recently, and they all said it was the coolest thing ever. A once in a lifetime experience! There are different options for guides or tours as this is a popular thing to do, but this is just the people they used. Maggie and Kale are going Sunday, July 13th at 8pm. We booked using the link above!

Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area

Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area

Old Puako Road, Waimea, HI 96743

Hapuna beach is a state park and has the best waves for boogie boarding! Maggie could spend hours at this beach. There are bathrooms, lots of nice sand, and waves that are easy to swim in.

South Point Cliff Dive

South Point Cliff Dive

Island of Hawai'i, HI 96772

This is about an hour and half from Kona. Kale has done this a few times, and Maggie regrets not doing it! If you want to go, the jump into the ocean is about a 40-foot-drop and about 20 feet deep. It is the most southern part of the United States.

King's Shops

King's Shops

250 Waikōloa Beach Drive, Waikoloa Village, HI 96738

Located across the street from the Marriott Waikoloa Beach Resort, the Kings’ Shops has high-end offerings intermingled with local flair. This outdoor mall offers specialty and gifts, apparel, jewelry, and restaurants.

Kona Brewing Co.

We have not done the tour, but this is some of our favorite beer!

Kahua Ranch

Kahua Ranch

59-564 Kohala Mountain Road, Waimea, HI 96743

A family friend hosts a sunset bbq dinner up at the Kahua Ranch. The views are incredible and the food is amazing.

Laverne’s Sports Bar

Laverne’s Sports Bar

75-5819 Ali‘i Dr, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740

This is the bride and groom's favorite restaurant in Kona! We make it a point to stop once, or twice, a trip. The ono is amazing, the mixed drinks are good, and the local brews on tap are great! There is often live music, and the spot is located right across from the beach so you can enjoy the waves and a sunset during dinner!
