Welcome to our wedding website – we’re so glad you’re here. We’ve created this website as a helpful resource for all of the need-to-know details in the lead up to our big day. Here you’ll find our schedule of timings and venue directions, along with our relationship history and recommended hotel details for our out of town guests. We’d love for you to take a look around to learn more about our wedding day plans. Don’t forget to RSVP and let us know about any dietary preferences, too. And finally, thanks so much for all of your love and support so far! We can’t wait to celebrate this special day with all of our favourite people.
Yes, we were both in high school band together. Him playing the Baritone and me playing the far superior French Horn. It's a classic tale of two brasses. Actually, we never really interacted during this time. I was painfully shy and he was too cool for school. It wasn't until Ian joined the Marines after high school that we started talking as friends via Facebook thanks to the prodding of My Mom and Ian's Aunt Sheryl (it was a tag team effort). Once Ian came back to Grand Rapids, we decided to meet up for drinks and had a good time. We realized after that we hadn't exchanged numbers so of course we had to meet up again to exchange numbers and the rest is history!
Ian called me on his way home from work Monday, July 13th, 2020 and said he wanted my opinion on something for his property in Cedar Springs and would I mind being ready to go when he got home in 20 minutes so we could go right away. I said sure and we were on our way. I noticed during the drive that he kept messing with his pant leg to the point I asked him if he was alright. Once we got there, we walked into the woods and he brought me to the tree where he had placed the stepping stone in the shape of Michigan. It was one of the first gifts I ever gave him. At that spot he told me how he couldn't imagine going through life without me, dropped down to one knee and pulled the ring out from the same pocket I noticed him messing with in the car. Obviously I said yes and we stood there happy until the thorny plants forced us to move. We called my family on the way home and they said he had asked for their blessing back in January! Ian said he had been planning to propose for months but the pandemic meant a change of plans. The suddenness of it all came from the fact that he picked up the ring from the Jeweler that day and didn't want to carry it around any longer than he had to! We are both so looking forward to facing everything ahead of us as a team.
