Stroll from Waterfront Park down the Battery, and you will find this beautiful park full of history! White Point Garden is located in the heart of the historic district downtown. This park provides beautiful views of Fort Sumter and the Charleston Harbor. The park is shaded by beautiful old oak trees and features a rich display of history, including an impressive display of Civil War cannons, and several monuments and statues. First used as a public park in 1837, the area now known as White Point Garden became a place for artillery during the American Civil War.
The Charleston City Market is one of the country’s oldest public markets, it is also the city’s most visited attraction. This market has been one of the crown jewels of the Lowcountry since its founding in 1804. Shop and stroll through the open-air stands as you browse the goods vendors bring.
The liveliest street in the city with everything you could want and need. Shops, restaurants, bars and boutiques are endless on King Street.
Rainbow Row is one of the most photographed areas of downtown. The row is a cluster of 13 pastel-painted Georgian-style rowhouses dating from 1748 to 1845.
Take a ferry tour to Ft. Sumter and see where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. You can also sign up to take a tour of the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier at Patriot's Point.
Although all neighboring beaches are great, Sullivans Island is our favorite. If you'd like to take a stroll on the beach, park parallel alongside the street or in the grass and walk down to the beach. If you like BBQ, eat at Hometeam and if you like alcohol you MUST have a game changer! Poe's Tavern is great for a burger. Sullivans Island is about a 20 minute drive from downtown.
It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens.
A favorite for us. BBQ, game changers and a laid back atmosphere. The Game Changer's are a MUST have alcoholic drink and they are STRONG! They are also known for their wings.
Taco boy is off the beaten path and worth the short drive. If you like Mexican and a fun atmosphere, this is your spot. They have great drinks, our favorite being the frozen screwdriver.
A lively Japanese restaurant that never disappoints!
If you want to go all out and eat lavishly, then Hall's is your spot. A steakhouse that hits an A+ in every category. Reservations ahead of time are a must.
They do NOT take reservations. Get here plenty early and put your name on the list, in the meantime you can browse the shops on King.
