We ask our guests to dress in dressy casual to semi formal attire. We want you to be comfortable and have fun! There will some walking outside in grass so if you'd like to wear a heeled shoe, a thicker heel is recommended. https://emilypost.com/advice/attire-guide-dress-codes-from-casual-to-white-tie
We ask that our guests please bring a personal umbrella in the event of rain at the ceremony. The ceremony is outdoors and cannot be moved so we will be getting married in the rain if that's the way it happens! The reception area is enclosed and heated if it is a chilly night. One of the walls opens up to the outside and will most likely be open throughout the course of the reception unless it is too cold for comfort.
Unfortunately, there will not be a shuttle to and from. We want our guests to choose where they stay! The numbered cabins and lodge rooms at Lydia's are within walking and/or golf cart distance away from the ceremony and reception site. Most of the other cabins and hotels are less than a 15 minute drive. Please see the travel section on this website for our recommendations. We ask that you please designate a driver and do not drink and drive!
Yes! Catering during the reception will be provided by The BBQ Exchange. Please reach out to Maegan if you are in need of a vegetarian option.
Yes! We will be serving non alcoholic cocktails, tea, soda, coffee, beer and wine at the Welcome Event before the ceremony. The reception bar will offer spirits, wine, beer and two signature cocktails. There will also be a menu of non alcoholic drinks as well as a hot drink bar. A cash tip jar will be set out for our lovely friend and bartender Greig Leach. Greig bartends with Maegan at Lemaire in Richmond and is also an amazing artist. Please check out his beautiful creations via Instagram @greigsart.
We have decided to keep the rehearsal dinner intimate to only our bridal party, grooms party and immediate family. We're hoping for some good rest the night before and we cannot wait to celebrate and see you all on Saturday!
Late September in Stanardsville is beautiful! The average high for this time of year is 73 degrees with the low being 53 degrees. We recommend you check the weather about a week prior to plan accordingly. It may be chilly at night so a light jacket is recommended. There will be no coat or jacket check but the parking lot is not far if you wish to leave a "just in case" jacket in your vehicle. We ask guests to please bring a small umbrella in the slight chance of rain. The ceremony is outside and cannot be moved so it will be a rain or shine event! If you are booking through Lydia's Mountain Lodge & Cabins, please pack a swimsuit as all of their cabins come equipped with a hot tub!
The catering menu, with allergy notices will be listed shortly as soon as we have locked in the selections. The ceremony site has a full operating commercial kitchen equipped with refrigeration. If you cannot eat what we provide for catering, you are more than welcome to bring your own food! Please speak to either of the bride's sisters, Laila Marshall or Melissa Oakes who will be coordinating the Welcome Event and the beginning of the Reception. Email Maegan at maeganjallen@gmail.com if you need to speak with Laila or Melissa about this matter and Maegan will get you in touch with them.
We kindly ask you do not bring children under the age of 12.
Please! Some of the cabins are pet friendly, please check with the cabin you book. The pet fee is a flat $75. Please leave your fur babies behind for the events taking place on Saturday. We would love to love on them but they are not allowed at the Pavilion.
