Hiking

There are numerous trails around Red Lodge for all skill level! To help ensure a safe and enjoyable hiking experience, here are some important reminders: 1. Weather in the mountains can change quickly, even in summer. Always check the forecast before heading out. 2. Always bring enough water to stay hydrated! 3. Carry bear spray (and know how to use it) when hiking!! Bears, moose, and other wildlife roam the area. Always keep a safe distance, and be aware of your surroundings. 4. While many trails are well-marked, it’s always smart to have a map or a trail app on hand in case you lose your way. Cell service can be spotty, so ensure you have the maps of the trail you are going on available offline! 5. Leave no trace by packing out all trash, food wrappers, and waste. Respect the natural beauty of Red Lodge and its trails by helping to keep them clean!

Red Lodge Mountain

During the summer, you can purchase a day lift ticket for just $10 to ride the chairlift (weather permitting). The lift operates Friday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Once at the top, you can enjoy a scenic walk down the mountain. For a fun alternative, try the Disc Golf course that takes you downhill! Disc golf rentals are available for $15. If the chairlift isn't running, feel free to hike up and then make your way back down after reaching the summit.

-Rock Creek- Just south of Red Lodge, this creek runs through a beautiful, mountainous canyon. Rock Creek is well-known for its excellent fly fishing. The creek is relatively easy to wade in, making it great for both novice and experienced anglers. -Wild Bill Lake- A short drive from Red Lodge, Wild Bill Lake is a serene, high-altitude lake surrounded by the Beartooth Mountains.
