Things To Do

We think pretty much the entire country of Scotland is absolutely beautiful and we're so excited for you to have your own Scottish adventure! Below are some recommendations both by the castle and throughout the country.

Black Bull Inn Restaurant

THINGS TO DO IN CASTLE NEIGHBORHOOD (LAUDER) Lovely spot within walking distance of the castle for lunch or dinner! We had a traditional Sunday Roast here with sticky toffee pudding and it was delicious.

Firebrick Bakery

14 Market Pl, Lauder, TD2 6SR, United Kingdom

THINGS TO DO IN CASTLE NEIGHBORHOOD (LAUDER) Great breakfast/lunch spot for sausage rolls, pies, pastries!

Flat Cat Gallery

2 Market Pl, Lauder, TD2 6SR, United Kingdom

THINGS TO DO IN CASTLE NEIGHBORHOOD (LAUDER) Adorable art gallery and cafe!

Edinburgh

Edinburgh

Edinburgh is less than an hour drive or a two-hour bus. Our favorite restaurants are Dishoom (Indian), Aizle (fine dining), Masti (Indian), Lucky Yu (Asian Fusion), Sisorti (bakery), Twelve Triangles (bakery), Peacock Alley (high tea), Rhubarb (fine dining), BABA (Mediterranean), Edinburgh Larder (brunch), Skua (small plates) to name a few. You can't really go wrong doing the main touristy things like seeing the Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Victoria's Street, Dean's Village, etc. Feel free to text us for more Edinburgh recs!

Isle of Skye, Highlands and Loch Ness 3-Day Tour from Edinburgh

Isle of Skye, Highlands and Loch Ness 3-Day Tour from Edinburgh

Isle of Skye is known to have the most beautiful places in Scotland like Quiraing, Old Man of Storr, Fairy Glen, and more! With this tour, you'll see both coastal and the Highlands of Scotland without renting a rental car. If we only had 3 days to see Scotland, this is the tour we would do! You'll also see Glencoe, Loch Ness, Loch Lomond, and Ben Nevis which are all famous, beautiful destinations.

Loch Ness, Scottish Highlands, Glencoe and Pitlochry Tour (Day Trip from Edinburgh)

Loch Ness, Scottish Highlands, Glencoe and Pitlochry Tour (Day Trip from Edinburgh)

12-hour group tour ideal for travelers wanting to experience the best of the Scottish Highlands in one easy day from Edinburgh. Save hours of research and transport planning; and discover the region’s highlights and heritage by comfortable midi-coach, with a guide for background. See Stirling Castle, Glencoe, and Ben Nevis; and a short visit to the town of Callander and cruise on Loch Ness (additional cost) in search of its fabled monster.

Glenfinnan Viaduct & The Highlands (Day trip from Edinburgh)

Glenfinnan Viaduct & The Highlands (Day trip from Edinburgh)

12-hour Highlands day tour from Edinburgh featuring the famous Harry Potter Jacobite steam train, Linlithgow Palace, the mythical Kelpies, and the dramatically perched Stirling Castle on route to the Highlands. Head north through Glencoe while your Driver / Guide points out the film locations for the James Bond and Harry Potter franchise.

INVERNESS

INVERNESS

If you'd like to visit Evan's port (Ardresier Port) and see the coastal city he visits once a month, check out Inverness! Loch Ness is the most famous thing to see in Inverness and is absolutely beautiful but you can also check out more beautiful nature at Nairn Beach, Torrachilty Forest, Ben Wyvis Nature Reserve, Rogie Falls, and more! We recommend eating at the Sundancer for a beautiful view or Rocpool. We recommend staying at the Kingsmills Hotel.

Northumberland Coast

Northumberland Coast

If you're renting a car, Northumberland is a little over an hour drive from the castle and offers gorgeous seaside views, beaches, and hiking.

Original Harry Potter Locations Tour in Edinburgh

Original Harry Potter Locations Tour in Edinburgh

If you're a Harry Potter fan like Madeleine, you'll love this HP themed Edinburgh tour! Give your Edinburgh sightseeing a Harry Potter themed twist by going on this exciting tour with a Harry Potter enthusiast guide. Visit places that inspired J. K. Rowling to create the world-renowned books, and discover filming locations that featured in the movies. It’s a great way to tick off top Edinburgh sights such as the Royal Mile, while learning Harry Potter-related stories that you likely wouldn’t discover otherwise.
