Maid of Honor
Carly and Maddy met freshman year at USC while living a few doors down from each other on the same floor of the dorm and were immediately inseparable. They have survived cramming for finals, numerous sorority events, jobs, heartbreaks, crappy apartments, and a pandemic. Decades later they are still on the same page about the best hang sesh: coffee, takeout, and old episodes of Veronica Mars.
Best Woman
Haley and Gene met in high school and immediately bonded over laughing at their classmates antics, passing notes in pre-calculus, and sharing birthday celebrations. They no longer live near each other, but whenever they can, they enjoy getting together to play some board games, have a few beers, and listen to the the latest hits on the radio.
Bridesmaid
Carey and Maddy met in high school, but their friendship really blossomed during summers and winter breaks during college when they lived two blocks away from each other. Fond formative memories span from driving down Alameda with the radio blasting and windows rolled down, to Maddy being snowed in to Princeton during a spring break visit to Carey, to tracking down the best gelato in NYC together after college. Now the two happily share writing tips and photos of their dogs and Carey's son, Quinn.
Groomswoman
Kathi is Gene's younger sister and closest confidant in parental matters. They could always trust each other to share where mom kept her secret stash of chocolate or hide that broken new toy from dad. Each had different skill sets which often took them on different paths, but they always shared their bounty with each other. Things have changed a bit since they no longer live in the same house, but they remain close partners in all things devious.
Bridesmaid
Freyan and Maddy met freshman year of high school and solidified their friendship on the bus home from the freshman year retreat during which they and a few other friends penned a masterpiece called "the story of retreat." The thirty-something line poem has since been lost to history, but their friendship has endured for over twenty years. While Freyan lives in New York and the pair only meet in person once or twice a year at most, frequent texts and calls always make it feel as if no time has passed.
Groomswoman
Bridget and Gene met while working at the Apple Store in New York and became close friends through their shared passion of helping others learn. They enjoy celebrating any event including holidays, birthdays, and macaroon days (any excuse to get a group of friends together is a good one). Since Gene moved to California they don't see each other as often, but whenever they do it's always a blast and usually includes a lot of delicious food.
Ring Bearer
Ty is Maddy's younger brother and is way cooler, way better at photography, and way more outdoorsy. He even has longer, arguably better, red hair. Though seven years apart in age, Maddy and Ty have always banded together against the parents when it really counted, like when planning vacation activities or picking which Christmas movie to watch for the 100th time.
Flower Woman
Jennie is Gene's older sister and mentor in all life matters. She helps keep Gene grounded by providing different perspectives for any sticky situation he gets himself into. They both love to learn something new and push each other to be the best version of themselves. Jennie also has the best sense of humor and an infectious sense of optimism.
Parents of the Bride
Maripat has known Maddy since Maddy's birth (har har), and Tyler has known Maddy since about the age of two. She has always been deeply thankful for all of their love and support, but around age thirty she could finally give them the gift of admitting they were occasionally right in their advice. Maddy also got her burgeoning green thumb and love of photography from her mom, and shares her love of reading and tolerance for football with her dad.
Parents of the Groom
Peggy and John raised Gene from a baby to the person he is today. At the age of three he was the ring bearer at their wedding and is beyond thankful for the endless support they have provided. He gets his zeal and determination from his mother and his curiosity and patience from his father.
Officiant
Phil and Gene met in Kindergarten. Gene immediately noticed Phil's relaxed and centered demeanor which helped de-escalate many schoolyard quarrels, and thus began a long and winding friendship that has only grown stronger. Phil is married to Haley Pioch, Best Woman, and he met Maddy and Gene as a couple during Gene and Maddy's trip to Michigan in 2022. He thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread (according to Maddy and Gene.)
