Pitkin County, where Aspen is located, has recently issued a mask mandate for all indoor events. This means that all guests attending the ceremony and reception will be asked to wear a mask. We will provide customized masks for all guests to wear for the big day! Masks will not be required when eating/drinking, when sitting at one's table, and when mingling in outdoor spaces. For more information, please visit https://covid19.pitkincounty.com/
We'd appreciate guests to wear semi-formal to formal attire. No jeans, please- save those for the rehearsal dinner!
Welcome to rural Colorado, where the commutes are long and the views are spectacular! Unfortunately, longer driving times (think 45 minutes or so) up and down the Roaring Fork Valley are just a reality and part of our way of life! We recommend that visiting guests rent a vehicle when they arrive. We also recommend that guests staying in the same hotels/areas in the valley carpool if driving is a concern. Luckily, the views are hard to beat, so it makes the time spent on the road fly by!
Three things: Water, Water and Water! Just kidding, but in all seriousness, staying hydrated is key to avoiding any altitude sickness or headaches. Also, sunscreen and lip balm with SPF are also great to have with you. Because we're up so high (Snowmass elevation is 8,209ft!) and closer to the sun, it's much easier to get a sun burn, even if it's cloudy. And for those of you who enjoy adult beverages- be careful at elevation, your tolerance might be a little less than what it is where you're from. Pacing yourself is key :)
Great question- it always depends! Colorado weather is notorious for being unpredictable all year round. In October, we could see beautiful, 70 degree days, or we could see some snow! Our recommendations is to check the forecast relatively close to when you leave for your trip, and pack accordingly. Generally speaking, evenings in October cool down dramatically, so definitely pack a jacket.
Due to the rural nature of Western Colorado, Uber and Lyft services are scarce, and fairly unreliable. The Roaring Fork Valley does have several taxi services, but they require previously scheduled pickup/drop off times.
Cellphone reception is generally pretty good at hotels and in town. If you decide to venture on a hike, or visit the Maroon Bells or the top of Aspen Mountain, you will likely have limited reception.
If you're looking to do some hiking, we highly recommend downloading and using the AllTrails App on your phone. It shows you all the hikes in your area, their level of difficulty, and provides directions/GPS to the trailhead. The fall colors should be spectacular around our wedding weekend, so we encourage you to plan a hike or two while you're in town!
