How we met.... from Mackenzie's perspective!

Colorado State University, January 2015

Tyler's fraternity was hosting a "back to school" social, and I got an invite from one of his friends in the fraternity. I wasn't really in the mood to go, but my best friends Meagan, Miranda and Victoria (all bridesmaids!) convinced me to go. I was having a great time playing the piano and singing with some of Tyler's fraternity brothers. At about 7:00pm, Tyler walked in the door. He ran upstairs, grabbed his guitar, and joined the sing-along around the piano, impressing everyone (especially me) with his musical talent. At about 7:15, however, he stood up, and stuck his hand out towards me. "It was really nice to meet you, but I've got a study group to get to at the library." After a firm and decisive handshake, he grabbed his backpack and was off to spend his Friday night at the library. I was stunned and intrigued- here was a guy who took his education as seriously as I did, and had goals and dreams he was willing to work for! WOW! After that, we connected via Facebook, and have been a music-playing, library-going couple ever since.

How we met...from Tyler's perspective!

Colorado State University, January 2015

I was just getting off work from my job at Timberline Church on a Friday night. It was my last semester of undergrad and I already had a ton of studying to do from my first week of class, so I had actually made plans to meet up with my study partner later that night. I reluctantly decided to stop by my fraternity house on the way home from work for their “back to school” social event so that I could say I was there. When I walked in the door I saw all of my fraternity brothers surrounding a pretty girl at the piano and they were singing and playing songs. It was obvious that each of them was trying to outdo the other in winning her over. As soon as I was spotted entering the room, one of the brothers yelled, “Tyler, go get your guitar!” I played along to two songs with this mystery girl at the piano. Knowing my ride was waiting outside, I stood up 15 mins after getting there and shook Mackenzie’s hand and told her it was nice meeting her, but that I had to go to the library to study. I actually studied at the other girl’s house, the library part isn’t true- I told her that because I didn't want her to think I was spending time with another girl and was unavailable! When I returned home that night, all of my brothers were talking about taking Mackenzie shooting with them the next morning, but I couldn’t go due to having to work. So I connected with her on Facebook (to beat the other guys, of course) and the rest was history!
