Book ahead! Call our Paradise Power Sports and arrange a bike rental. You will love exploring the town by bike! The fat tire bikes are perfect for riding down the beach! Tell them you’re coming for the madsen wedding :) Recommended paths: The beach entering at third avenue Be mindful of the wind (if it’s really windy, you don’t want to save riding into the wind for the 2nd half of your ride). We love riding down Flagler Ave, Esther St (parallel to Flagler), going halfway up the north causeway bridge to watch the sunset. The sunset is also beautiful from South Indian river road. There are also trails thru the woods off of Saxon Ave starting near 17th Ave. Once you go thru the paths in the woods, go to the bike path on the road and head for Browns Bay (very close preserve).
We are blessed with an absolutely beautiful beach! Grab your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen and head to the waves! You can drive right on to the beach with your car - just buy a day pass! Or park at MacKenzie (22nd Ave) or Kathie’s house (oakwood Ave) and walk there. You’ll probably see a gopher tortoises on your walk. Our favorite time to go is when the tide is low so that we can play in the tide pools with Harry! We see stingrays, dolphins, and so many types of beautiful birds. Don’t miss it!
There are really beautiful walking trails and a great spot to view the water. There are often people fishing here and we love to watch the birds and dolphins. We used to live right around the corner from here when we first moved to New Smyrna and would come here daily.
We absolutely love this market! We go almost every week. It happens on Saturday morning until about noon. You must try the thai food - get the spring rolls (order 6, not a single). We also love the smoked mahi fish dip from the fishmonger - eat it with lemon and fresh jalapeno on crackers! Their is often live music and so many amazingly talented local artists. There are two farmers markets that occur Saturday mornings. This is the larger one on mainland by Canal St. The other one is on beachside in the Norwood’s parking lot. If you go to the smaller market, the food truck with breads and olives has great focaccia.
We love to come here by car or by boat! It's a great place for casual eats - we love their fish sandwiches, crab cakes, and rum runners! They have a great boat tour that shows you Mosquito Lagoon and beautiful wildlife like birds and dolphins (book ahead). They also offer kayak and paddleboat rentals.
The Marine Discovery Center offers great boat tours of the intracoastal. The sunset dolphin tour is so much fun and absolutely beautiful! They also offer really fun kayak tours in various locations around New Smyrna. We love the tour that paddles past the bird hatchery.
This is a short drive from the beach. It’s very cool and a nice outdoor walk. There is a short nature trail there as well and benches to eat a picnic lunch. The sugar mill, once part of the Cruger-dePeyster Plantation, was built in the early 19th century. This 17-acre historic site contains the ruins of the coquina sugar factory that was raided during a war between the Seminole Indians and the United States.
One of our favorite restaurants and walking distance from our home! We love their german nights on Thursdays - make a reservation! They also have great brunch that starts at 10 on Saturday and Sunday (get there a few minutes before they open to avoid a wait). We love their bloody mary's and donuts!
Great place on Flagler Ave for lunch - one of our favorites! We always do a "Build Your Own" bowl with almost everything in it - ahi tuna, brown rice, add the avocado and seaweed salad, get multiple sauces. You will not regret it!
Sit outside! It's absolutely beautiful! Great cocktails and delicious food. Not a view of the water but still a lovely garden outside. It’s across the street from the bridge and park. If you have time before or after dinner, it’s really nice walking around there.
Order online! But it's the best bagel in town if you want a breakfast sandwich. Dont call ahead - you will still wait in a long line. Order online and you can skip the line. We are always stocked up on their asiago everything bagels - a must try!
