Kenzie and Dakotah first met in September 2016 when Kenzie was a freshman at Wichita State University. After some convincing from her sorority sister Anna, she agreed to help coach AnchorSplash, which brought her to the Delta Upsilon house. Dakotah was the one who greeted her at the door and gave her a tour. Over the next several years, they became close friends. They spent countless nights at the fraternity house playing board games and were often part of the same group of friends. One of Kenzie’s roommates, Maggie, spent years insisting that Dakotah was in love with her. Kenzie never believed her. (Maggie would like everyone to know she was right.) In 2021, Dakotah asked Kenzie on a date just days before she was set to move back to Illinois. Their matchmaker, Anna Dixon, encouraged her to say yes. After all, Kenzie was moving eight hours away. If the date went badly, she could go back to Illinois and never see him again. So she said yes. One date turned into 11 months of long distance before Dakotah moved to Illinois. Since then, they have built a life together filled with adventures, time spent at MCDD and Camp Goodtimes, and a house full of fur babies. On May 31, 2025, Dakotah asked Kenzie to marry him.
