Akaroa has a lovely Farmer's market from 9.30am to 1pm on Saturdays at St. Patrick’s front lawn opposite The Green.
Ripped straight from website: "experience a dolphin cruise in Akaroa and encounter the world’s smallest and rarest marine dolphin – the endangered Hector’s dolphin. Cruise past Akaroa’s dramatic volcanic sea cliffs, fur seal colonies, and marine birdlife, all while gaining insight into the area’s rich natural and cultural history." Tumbledown Bay is the best surf beach in Banks Peninsula and a bit of a hidden gem. You may have the beach to yourself. Last time we went there we went surfing with only seals for company. It is an epic spot but literally nothing there other than a park bench so bring water and snacks.
Le Bons is my favourite beach in Banks Peninsula if you're not into surfing. There are no shops so, again, bring supplies. It is beautiful and may only be a couple of other people on the beach. It isn't too far from Akaroa so could definitely be done in a day trip.
