Nathan and Polly Johnson House
New Bedford is significant for another reason: this is where Frederick Douglass, an influential abolitionist, lived after he escaped slavery. You can also learn more about Black history more generally through the New Bedford Historical Society's Black History Trail (https://nbhistoricalsociety.org/historic-trails/). Horseneck Beach State Reservation
Horseneck Beach is a family friendly beach relatively close to New Bedford. Parking can be competitive so we recommend arriving early in the day. Boston
Boston is the best! It's about 1-2 hours away (depending on traffic). If you have never been, we highly recommend staying an extra day or two and visiting Boston. There is a ton of history to experience and great places to eat. Check to see if any of the Boston sports teams are in town!
Providence
Providence is about 45 minutes from New Bedford and has many great restaurants, museums, and fun areas to walk around! Providence é aproximadamente 45 minutos de New Bedford e tem vários restaurantes, museus e áreas bonitas para caminhar!

Cape Cod is a wonderful place to visit if you have an extra day. There are many wonderful places to stop including Wellfleet, Truro Vineyards, Marconi Beach, Provincetown, and Race Point Beach. The tip of Cape Cod is about 2 hours driving from New Bedford and beware of traffic! Se tiver um dia extra, visite Cape Cod!
