In the spring of 2017, Katie and Luke both participated in the Appalachian Mountain Club's Spring Hiking Program. At one of the after work events, Luke noticed Katie and tried to talk to her. He failed. Katie didn't even notice him! Then, as luck would have it, Katie and Luke both attended a weekend retreat at Mount Cardigan in New Hampshire. As Luke walked in, Katie was chatting with a mutual friend so Luke walked over and introduced himself. The rest, as they say, is history. They hit it off immediately, started going on hikes together almost every weekend, and made it official on July 2nd of that year.

Na primavera de 2017, Katie e Luke participaram de um programa de caminhadas e mochilão organizado pelo grupo 'Appalachian Mountain Club'. Em uma das aulas, Luke notou a Katie e tentou falar com ela. Ele falhou. Katie nem o notou! Depois, por sorte, Katie e Luke participaram de um retiro durante um final de semana em Mount Cardigan, em New Hampshire. Quando Luke entrou, Katie estava conversando com uma amiga em comum, então Luke se aproximou e se apresentou. O resto, como dizem, é história. Eles se deram bem imediatamente, começaram a fazer caminhadas juntos quase todo fim de semana e oficializaram em 2 de julho daquele ano.
