The most beautiful bookstore in the world (period).
Best Port wine cellars and also former working place of the Mother of the Bride. You can book a tour with a tasting in the end. Contact Luísa and she and her mom may be able to help with the booking.
Amazing hotdogs. Familiar environment. Very, very small. It’s common to eat standing, if there are no seats available. Shake one of the employer’s hands when you get in :)
It's not a visit to Porto without going to Guedes (usually on mondays, a tradition we got from Joana, Luísa's Maid of Honor). Order a “Sandes de pernil com queijo da serra”. It’s a pork sandwich with a Portuguese cheese. The cheese is strong, so if you’re not a fan of cheese, order without. You can have it with the house’s rose sparkling wine, Espadal or with a “fino” (Porto’s name for 33cl beer), depending on what you’re on the mood for. If you still have space after that, order another "sandes", if you want something sweet, definitely order the chocolate mousse. And don't forget to say hi to Mr. César for us ;)
We love this restaurant! But so does the rest of Porto! So, you have to book! This place has so many good things! I recommend for you to choose one of there specialties, they’re marked with little beer mugs on the menu. Order the Rissól de carne com cogumelos e trufas (in English should be something like patty of meat, mushrooms and truffle, maybe…) for appetizers. Trust me! It’s amazing! They just opened another location in Rua Passos Manuel, so you can also try it there.
This is one street downtown, but when we say it, we actually mean that street plus the 2 other next to it. You can't miss it. It's a great place to go bar hopping and (wait for it, norwegians!) drinking outside!!!! Whoohoo! On saturday mornings there's also a nice market.
In one of the "Galerias Paris" streets we mentioned, it's a a nice place to go after you’ve been bar hopping, if you want to dance. There's 3 different areas with different music.
Perfect place to end the night if you like rock n'roll.
Great drinks and ambience.
The "Francesinha" is a staple food native of Porto. MUST TRY! Beware, this is HUUUUGE.
One of the best views and rooftops in Porto, great for a glass of Espumante after visiting Clérigos Tower or the Miradouro da Vitória.
One of the oldest coffee shops in Porto. Great coffee, expresso, chemex, french press and others. The brunch and pizza menus are amazing too!
After trying a few brunch places in Porto, this is definitely our favourite! But beware, come early or prepare to stand in line.
This is our suggestion for the fine men that wish to look their best at our wedding. Send them a message on facebook if you want to book a time and say that you are our friend. The owner is also a friend of ours and you will see him at the wedding after, if you want to thank him for your awesome new look.
Suggestion for the ladies who want to get their hair done before the wedding. This is the only place Luisa cuts her hair at. She has been coming here for about 10 years. It's also where she's getting her hair done on the big day. It's not on the city center, as it is closer to Luisa's parents house (about 6€ with a taxi). If you want to come here, please send an email to luisanders2018@gmail.com so we can book you in. Mind that the appointments will be around 10am and you might cross paths with the bride and her friends. :D More details will be sent by email.
