Question

How to prepare for the Altitude?

Answer

Many of our guests are traveling from out of town (Sea level or close to), and Colorado Springs sits at about 6,000 feet, with Pikes Peak rising to over 14,000 feet. To help you feel your best, here are a few simple tips: Before & During Your Trip Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Start drinking extra water 2–4 days before arrival and continue throughout your stay. Go easy your first day. Light activity only—save strenuous hikes and Pikes Peak for later. Eat regularly, especially carbohydrates, and don’t skip meals. Limit alcohol for the first 24–48 hours, as it can worsen altitude symptoms. Medications & Prevention Some people find taking ibuprofen (Advil) helpful for altitude-related headaches (always follow label directions and avoid if medically contraindicated). Prescription altitude medication (Diamox/acetazolamide) can be helpful for those prone to altitude sickness—ask your doctor before traveling. Mild headaches, nausea, or fatigue are common Colorado is beautiful but the altitude is no joke—listening to your body and pacing yourself will make your trip much more enjoyable. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Since our celebration takes place in early March in Colorado Springs, you can expect cool to chilly weather with a chance of snow or rain. Temperatures in March historically average from the mid-40s to low-50s°F during the day, with overnight lows often dipping near or below freezing, so layers are a great idea. Snow showers and wet weather are still possible this time of year, and sunshine can vary from bright blue skies to partly cloudy days. Colorado weather can change quickly in early spring, so it’s good to be prepared for a mix of chilly, sunny, and potentially snowy conditions!

Question

What to pack?

Answer

Colorado is beautiful—but a little different than home. Here’s what we recommend bringing so you’re comfortable and ready for fun: Lotion & chapstick (ESSENTIAL) – The mountain air is very dry. You’ll thank us. Sunscreen – We’re high in elevation and closer to the sun. Yes, it may be snowing… and yes, you can still get sunburned ☀️❄️ Layers, layers, layers – Think sweaters, thermals, jackets, scarves. Temps can change quickly throughout the day. Warm outerwear – A good coat, gloves, and a hat are smart choices. - Coats and outerwear can be rented at https://www.sportsrent.com/copy-of-winter-rentals Comfortable shoes – Especially if you plan to explore, walk, or adventure. Formal attire for the wedding – Dress to celebrate with us 💍 Fun, casual outfits – Perfect for sightseeing, exploring, and mountain adventures. Basically: pack to be warm, moisturized, sun-protected, and ready for both celebrating and adventuring. 🏔️✨

Question

Is it okay to arrive the day before the wedding and how long should we plan to stay?

Answer

Absolutely! You’re welcome to arrive whenever works best for you. That said, if you’re able, we recommend coming a bit earlier to make the most of the trip. Ideally, arriving March 8 and staying through March 12 or 13 gives you time to adjust to the altitude before the wedding and enjoy a few days afterward to explore or join us on some adventures. If you’re planning a quicker trip or don’t plan to explore much, March 9–11 is totally fine and still works perfectly for the wedding weekend. No matter how long you stay, we’re just excited to celebrate with you! 💍🏔️

Question

Should you rent a car?

Answer

Yes, we strongly recommend it. Uber and Lyft can be unreliable and/or expensive in Colorado Springs, especially for the longer distances between airports, accommodations, and wedding events. Having a car will make getting around much easier and more flexible. You can find our rental car recommendations and tips on the Travel page of our website.

Question

Ceremony Questions...

Answer

Where is the ceremony? Our ceremony will take place at Garden of the Gods, an outdoor national park with incredible views. Should I wear heels? We don’t recommend it. The walk from the parking lot to the ceremony site is along a dirt path and may be icy, so flat, sturdy shoes are your best bet. Will there be seating during the ceremony? No—chairs are not allowed in the national park. The good news is the ceremony will be short (10 minutes or less). Will the ceremony start on time? Yes! We plan to start promptly at 7:30 AM. We’ll be doing a first look and sunrise photos beforehand, so please plan to arrive early. Will there be shelter or shade? No. The ceremony is fully outdoors, so please dress accordingly for the weather. Will there be bathrooms nearby? Because this is a national park, bathrooms can be limited. Restrooms are typically only available at the visitor center, so plan ahead. Thank you for being flexible—this setting is absolutely worth it, and we can’t wait to share it with you! 🏔️💍

Question

Is it an unplugged ceremony?

Answer

Kinda 😉 We’ll have a “media minute” during the ceremony, where you’re invited to take all the photos you want. After that, we kindly ask that phones be put away so everyone can be fully present with us. Also—full transparency—we’re paying our photographer a lot of money, and we’d really love for our professional photos not to include phones blocking the aisle or our faces 😅 Thank you for helping us keep those moments clear and beautiful. For the rest of the weekend, it’s phones galore 📸 Please take as many photos and videos as you’d like—we can’t wait to relive the weekend and see it all through your eyes! Just remember to pause the doom-scrolling on Facebook and soak up the love, laughter, and time together.
