How we got here

It all started with a click… well, technically a swipe—a right swipe, to be exact. Codi and Madi matched on Tinder and spent a few weeks talking through the app before graduating to Snapchat and, eventually, real phone numbers. After almost a year of talking only over the phone, Madi finally asked for a date. Codi agreed (enthusiastically) and planned their first outing: a hockey game. One would think this is the part where everything went perfectly and the rest is history… but absolutely not. Codi never showed up. Not to that hockey game, and not to the next 12 dates he planned. Technically there was a 13th, but being hit by a water truck might be a valid excuse. Eventually, Madi had enough. On a cold December evening, she texted him, “What is your address? I’m showing up.” Codi replied, “If you show up, I’m going to kiss you,” followed by his address—so she showed up. And he kissed her. And that night was the beginning of everything. Three days later, they finally made it to an actual hockey game for their first official date. Not wanting the night to end, they drove around Codi’s hometown talking. Somewhere along the way, Codi chose to take her down what he lovingly referred to as “murder road,” explaining that “this is where they dump bodies in the river.” Unsurprisingly, Madi refused to get out of the car. She left that night convinced she’d never see him again. But after several days of missed calls, persistent texts, and Codi begging for another chance, she agreed to a second date. During that date, Codi asked, “So… what are we?” and before she could respond, he decided for both of them: “Guess we’re dating.” Fast forward: a move to Florida, a home, multiple dogs, countless adventures, and a baby... these two crazy kids are now—finally—getting married.

Engaged at last

Almost seven years after that first chaotic non-date, Codi decided it was time to propose. The morning started out like any other: Madi frantically trying to finish schoolwork, and Codi bustling around getting ready for a weekend trip—this time to South Carolina. Running two hours behind (which shocked no one), they finally hit the road, with Codi insisting they needed to hurry for a dinner meeting with new clients. Madi, thinking nothing of it, curled up and fell asleep. When they arrived, Codi rushed her to get ready and said they needed to meet his boss at Five Points before dinner. Annoyed, hungry, and tired, Madi grumbled her way to the car. As they pulled into Five Points, Hootie & the Blowfish’s “Hold My Hand” blasted through the speakers. After a quick singalong, they headed toward the Hootie & the Blowfish statue to meet everyone. Except… no one was there. Madi walked past the statue looking for the group when Codi called her back. In classic Madi fashion, she rolled her eyes and told him they didn’t have time to admire a monument they had already seen “a million times.” But Codi insisted: “No! I need you to look at this spot.” With another huff and eye roll, she walked back—and that’s when he dropped to one knee. Family and friends came running out from all directions, cheering as Madi said yes. It was a moment straight out of a fairy tale. As he slipped the ring on her finger and looked up at her, Codi grinned and said the same words that started it all: “So what are we? … I guess we’re engaged.”

Finally A Wedding

First Comes Baby, Then Comes Wedding

As you all know, our wedding was initially scheduled for April 3, 2025 (followed by SEVERAL reschedules), but we are finally going ahead with it (we promise this time). What started as a simple plan quickly turned into a never-ending cycle of “new date, who dis?” Between school, moving states, life happening at full speed, and welcoming our sweet baby boy into the world, the wedding kept getting pushed back like a group project no one wanted to start. But here we are—finally—ready to make it official. No more postponements, no more “maybe next year,” no more spreadsheets of alternate dates or frantic venue emails. We’re doing this. For real. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way. Our story has never been traditional, but it has always been ours—messy, hilarious, unexpected, and full of love. So it only makes sense that after ten years, a cross-country move, a house, four dogs, and a baby, we are finally getting to the part where we say, “I do.” Third time’s the charm… or maybe fourth… but who's counting? We cannot wait to celebrate this long-awaited day with all of you.
