Wifeys (because best friend just isn't enough) since high school - our friendship is old enough to vote, enlist in the military and buy lotto tickets. We haven't lived in the same city since 2007 but our friendship is the stuff of legends, numerous inside jokes, crazy stories and just all around great times. Kayla and her wonderful guy Sam got engaged in January and are getting married in September! We're both getting married this year!!! I'm so honored to have my WIFEY standing by my side and I can't wait to stand by hers when she gets married in September of THIS year!

Richard

Best Man

Richard and I were both in the same Masters program at Lee University, and he’s been my ride or die ever since. Whether it’s talking shop or contemplating the inner workings of Star Wars lore, we can be on the phone for hours (which is not something everyone can get me to do). Whether it’s on or off the stage, I know I can always count on him. He has already helped me in so many ways it’s impossible to count. A true mentor, colleague, and brother, I owe so much of who I am today to Richard.

Besties since grad school at Carolina, been through the ups and downs of pretty much everything. She's my gym buddy, duck face partner and the lady who loves to lunch (when we can) with me! When Meredith got married in 2018 I was honored with the Maid of Honor title! It's been a great friendship sparked by the mutual distain of the drama of grad school.

Eric

Eric is one of my oldest friends. He transferred to my high school during our Junior year and joined the drumline playing bass drum. I heard he actually didn’t like me at first (probably due to my awkward introverted energy around new people) but we eventually connected over video games and overall tomfoolery. We were basically just one entity during our Senior year, either playing COD all day, destroying Taco Bell, or just driving around shouting Tenacious D lyrics out of the window. We lived in separate cities for a while after High School until he moved to Gainesville, where more ridiculousness continued to ensue. With him now living in California and me living in South Carolina, I don’t see him as often but our friendship is one that picks right back up where it left off.

Alissa

Alissa is the one who told me it was safe to go to Cory's house on our first date! She assured me he wasn't a serial killer (yet to be determined). We've been close since undergrad at Columbus State's Schwob SOM and Cory and I were both in her wedding (to Paul) in Oct. of 2018! Thank you to her for helping me find my partner and love!

Paul was the first friend I made outside of USC when I moved to Columbia. Well... kind of outside of USC. His wife Alissa, who is one of Sarah’s Bridesmaids, was in my studio at USC. After meeting Paul I think we both knew that we had complementing personalities and hobbies, mainly gaming for hours while laughing at nonsense. I was honored to be a part of his wedding, and now we’re coming full circle as he joins me in my own wedding. I can’t wait for the future of our friendship as he welcomes his first child into the world, who will undoubtedly be spoiled by our little ‘framily’.

When Cory and I started dating Cory introduced me to Kortnei (Bailey's wife). He would always talk about how she was a teacher too and we'd become best friends. I was a little skeptical at first but after our first dinner out with the USC Percussion studio (and significant others) I was convinced that Kortnei and I would become best friends. She's my shopping buddy and porch wine and cheese partner! We do love our percussion men!

I was first introduced to Bailey as my competition, but he is now one of my closest friends. We both competed in the Great Plains International Marimba Competition, and at the time he was just a name on a page. Little did I know our lives would be forever connected just a few short years later. We both started our Doctorate degrees at USC at the same time, and realized that we had met before! After many hours of practice and class together we developed a great partnership. When Sarah and I started dating she was introduced to Bailey’s wife Kortnei, and after that our lives were forever intertwined! He pushes me all the time to get better as I see how incredibly talented and driven he is every day. I’m looking forward to all of our future collaborations and hangouts. CorBai 4 lyfe… Whammy!

Susie

Susie and I became friends after a tumultuous time in my life, and because of that mess, we've been close ever since! Susie and I are ACDA (American Choral Director Association) conference buddies. At one of my birthday parties, Susie was introduced to one of my good friends Josh - spoiler alert - they're MARRIED now! She lives the farthest away (Omaha, NE) of any of my friends but we love to talk to the phone/facetime and critique eachothers' outfits of the day!

Chris was getting his undergrad at USC when I started. It wasn’t normal for me to really connect with the undergrads during my time there, since I was around 8 years older than them and the undergrad vs grad schedules are drastically different. However, I saw something different in Chris. He was one of the hardest working students I’ve ever seen, incredibly talented, and an old soul accompanied by a ridiculous sense of humor (similar to myself). I know whenever he is around I will be laughing continuously at his sarcasm while being simultaneously inspired by his genius. Chris Amick will always be a great friend and colleague in my life.

Rebekah

Rebekah and I met because of Pastor Gary Phillips (the officiant) and Rebekah's Dad! Cory and I had nowhere to go for Easter Sunday dinner and Gary invited them to join in their family festivities. That afternoon Rebekah and I met and became the fastest friends. It's crazy how sometimes you just find people who "click". #pizzalates #goodmorningjulia #squad I was in her wedding in 2019 and we've had many wonderful trips down to Charleston to spend the weekend with Rebekah and her awesome hubby George!

Christian

Christian is Sarah’s brother, a precocious young man who I can see growing into a respectable and loving human. We haven’t been able to spend a lot of time together since he is in college at Mississippi State, but every time we hang out is a good time. Personally, I am extremely excited to have a brother joining my family. My own little brother, Bryce, tragically passed away when he was only 11 years old. Ever since then I have had a hole in my heart not having a brother in my life anymore. I’ve been able to start filling that hole with great friends that are basically brothers to me, but I’m excited to finish completing that process by adding an official brother in-law to my life. I’ll be there for him and his sisters whenever they need me.

My "middle" Seester is one of the coolest people I know. She marches to the beat of her own drum and is independent beyond belief (something I struggle with and admire her for greatly). I've known her since BEFORE birth and am so glad I didn't hold a grudge against her for peeing on me on of the first times I ever held her. As she's gotten older she and I have gotten much closer and she's even come to visit in South Carolina!

Gabrielle

The baby of the family and basically my Mini-Me. We are so similar in so many ways it's crazy. Both crazy outgoing, love being around our friends and just an all around cool person. ;) We even share a birthday month!!! Gabrielle is one of the most kind-hearted and loving people on this planet. I've never seen anyone cry over a "sleeping" deer on the side of the road like this girl, but it's because she has so much love for EVERY living creature. I'm so proud of how grown up you are at such a young age!

Bailey and Kortnei had their first child Penelope Quinn (PQ) and we started a new chapter in our lives as “Uncle Coco” and "Aunt Sssssssarah". We were all fortunate enough that our schedules aligned so we could babysit little PQ during their marching band rehearsals. This little girl is now the most spoiled nugget to ever exist, and has an undeniable bond with her Uncle Coco and we don’t see that changing anytime soon!
