Allison - The weekend before midterms my junior year, I attended a party with several friends as a designated driver since I still had to study after. At the party, I started chatting with the only other sober person there. We hit it off, and I got his Snapchat before leaving. The next day, I tried to message him but found the username didn’t exist. Our story could have ended there, but determined, I found him on Instagram and DMed him - and thank goodness I did! He picked me up for our first date at Evil Czech that Wednesday. Despite teasing him about the username mix-up, I quickly forgave him. Three weeks later, I accidentally gave Chris head lice from the kids I babysat (how romantic). His calm and humorous reaction made me realize we had something special. Eliminating the lice required spending seven hours in the Saint Mary’s LeMans dorm bathroom with a brave future bridesmaid to help comb it all out. However, after Chris and I were both in the clear, we celebrated with a trip to Wings Etc. Driving home from that dinner in November, buffalo sauce on my face and all, I knew he was the one! Chris - After Allison slid into my DMs, I took her to Evil Czech, her favorite restaurant and one I had never been to before. I had overslept and forgot to pick up flowers, so I grabbed a pack of KitKats instead. I also had the idea that Allison was tall (hint: she is not) and so I put on my boots to look taller for when I picked her up. From the moment I met Allison I knew she was the girl I wanted to marry, an assertion many of my friends called "insane" and "jumping the gun". Even when Allison gave me lice, it didn't matter to me, I was hooked. When we went on winter break, I called her almost every single night for the entire time and talked to her for hours. When we finally saw each other again in January, I told her for the first time (but certainly not the last) that I loved her... in the Midway Airport parking lot.
The Bride and Groom were on their way to a trip to celebrate Chris’s graduation (at least that’s what Allison thought). When they got to O’Hare airport, Chris sheepishly admitted that he left his backpack with the passports at Allison's house. Allison thought it was an SNL skit, and he was just kidding. He was not. What Allison didn't realize at the time was that meant Chris had left behind the ring too! The couple quickly navigated new flights out to Miami and spent the night at the Sea View hotel in the Bal Harbour district. The next day, Chris and Allison spent the morning and afternoon shopping, before getting ready for a dinner at a French restaurant near their hotel. On the way to dinner, Chris suggested a walk along the beachwalk when he got on one knee and popped the question (with the lovely photographer Sarah Sage hiding behind a bush to capture it all). They got some photos on the beach, enjoyed a lovely dinner at Le Zoo, and topped the night off at an Irish pub with some Guinness pints, before flying out the next day for an engagement moon in Punta Cana.
Before Allison and Chris embark on their next adventure together, they're excited to celebrate their marriage with an incredible honeymoon. They're looking forward to the magic of Coronado Springs Resort in Disney World, followed by a sentimental journey to Miami, the special place where they got engaged. And to top it off, they'll be unwinding at the beautiful Impressions Moxche resort in Cancun, Mexico! They can't think of a perfect way to start their marriage together. When they return, after over two years of being long-distance traveling between Chicago/Raleigh/Washington DC/South Bend/Omaha, they are excited to move together to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as Chris pursues his law degree from Wake Forest University.
