Danielle's Version... I noticed the cute bartender at Mt. Diablo Elementary School's auction fundraiser volunteering his time for the good of the community. A friend, Jenny Ils, made sure to walk right up to him and tell him what I thought. I avoided Dominic for the rest of the night, but after that I convinced my co-workers to go to happy hour after school more and more often. I hoped each time I might get a glimpse of the cute bartender. Slowly but surely I gained the confidence to chat with him more each time...and the rest is history. Dominic's Version... I’m pleased to see that Lovejoy isn’t taking this opportunity to wax romantic some dreamt up whimsical tale of amatory and passion. It's true, it all began at the 2017 MDE/PFC fundraiser. As we had in years past, Moresi’s Chophouse donated our time for the cause (see: an excuse for me to get a bunch of parents drunk and dance to Funky Cold Medina). I had noticed that the lovely Lovejoy was in attendance. Didn’t think an awful lot of it. I mean, sure, I was absolutely going to flirt with her. But, I didn’t have designs on marriage. At some point in the evening, mutual friend, Jenny came up to the bar, thrust a finger in Danielle’s direction, and said, “She thinks you’re cute.” I think “Oh, really? Cute, tall, blonde thinks I’m cute? Well, when she comes my way, I’m gonna lay that groundwork.” It wasn’t until the end-of-the-night that Danielle saw her window of opportunity closing ;) As she made her way across the ballroom, I thought, "Alright, time to turn up the charm, and later, I don’t know, maybe make out in the parking lot." She came up to the bar, I flashed a smile and gave her my laid-back cool act. “Do you have a cork screw?,” she asked. “Totally.” I handed her the bottle opener, she took it from me, stole a bottle of wine, and walked out the door. I would not be making out in the parking lot that evening. And, here we are. The stuff of Brontë, I know. It's very us.
