Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

We do not have a strict dress code. We will be wearing a mix of Indian and Western clothing for both Friday night and Saturday, and want our guests to feel comfortable in whatever they choose. The temperature in Chicago should be in the low 80s Fahrenheit during the day, and mid 70s in the evening with some of the city's famous wind.

Question

What should I do in case of rain?

Answer

All events are either indoors, or have an indoor alternative location. With that said, if forecasts show a chance of rain, it is advisable to carry an umbrella for getting between buildings. Friday's rehearsal dinner is planned to be held in the outdoor courtyard of Ida Noyes Hall on Woodlawn Ave. However, in the event of rain, we will hold it indoors in the building's 3rd Floor Theater. To access the theater, enter the building and proceed either up the stairs or in the elevator to the third floor. The building's staff will also be prepared to direct guests.

Question

What are the transportation options for getting to each of the venues?

Answer

If you are staying at the Study, each of the venues is a short 5 to 10 minute walk north from the hotel. In Chicago, the numbering of streets running East and West decreases as you proceed North. The hotel is located at the corner of 60th St and Woodlawn Ave). Our rehearsal dinner is located just across the Midway Plaisance, at 59th St and Woodlawn. Our ceremony will be held at the First Unitarian Church which is located at 57th St and Woodlawn, and our reception is just across the street from the church. If you would prefer to take a short car ride, Uber and Lyft are both readily available in Hyde Park. In addition, the hotel's staff and the Quadrangle Club's doorman can assist you in calling a taxi cab.

Question

Can I leave a card?

Answer

Yes, we will have a box at the reception where you can deposit your card.

Question

Where should I sit at the events?

Answer

For the rehearsal dinner seating is up to you. We will have large circular tables with plenty of chairs. For the ceremony we are reserving the first two rows for close family members. For the reception we have assigned tables. There will be a seating chart at the cocktail hour. Please use this to identify your table number.

Question

How is food being served?

Answer

We will have buffet style Indian food at our rehearsal dinner, along with appetizers and dessert. For the reception food will be served at stations. If you have identified dietary restrictions to us, we will have staff prepare a serving of food for you. Staff may come to your table just to verify where you are sitting and what your restrictions are.

Question

Are there any things I should be aware of with the Study Hotel?

Answer

Some of you may wish to check in early. Please notify the Study in advance of your arrival if this is your plan, so that they can do their best to accommodate you. The Study's rooms do not come with certain appliances like refrigerators and microwaves, however, they can provided upon request. The Study also has valet parking available, and in addition guests can park for free nearby on the street, or at the Kimbark South Garage.
