Question

What is the Parking Situation?

Answer

There is no parking available at either venue. There is paid street parking or 2 parking garages in downtown Portsmouth that are close to the venues. Both venue locations are about .4 miles from each other. Depending on the hotel you choose, that hotel/Inn may or may not provide (free) parking. Below is a link to other parking options in downtown Portsmouth. https://www.portsmouthnh.gov/publicworks/parkportsmouth/parking-locations-map-pricing#:~:text=The%20map%20below%20lists%20all,can%20be%20seen%20in%20blue. The Parriot Avenue lot is a free for 72-hrs but it does get filled quickly on weekends. The Hanover Garage has a daily fee of $40 and the Foundry Garage has a daily fee of $20.

Question

Is there a shuttle from the hotel to the venues?

Answer

No, downtown Portsmouth is very walkable. All downtown Portsmouth hotels are in walking distance to both venues. We recommend staying downtown if you don't want to deal with Uber/Lyft or parking.

Question

Is there a hotel room block?

Answer

Yes (go to the "Lodging & Air Travel" tab)! There is a room block at the downtown Hilton Garden Inn. However, The room block discount only applies if you are staying 2 nights. This is very centrally located and walkable. There is also a room block at the Holiday Inn, this is a short drive to downtown Portsmouth, but is the more economical option. There is also a %15 off discount code for the Courtyard Marriott for a 2 night stay (book early for a better price and availability of rooms). This is 1.2 miles from downtown. There are also other hotels in the area, as well as potential VRBOS and AirBNBs that might be better options for some.

Question

When can I explore the Moffatt-Ladd Mansion and Gardens?

Answer

The Moffatt-Ladd Mansion and Garden is a museum that is open to the public for a small fee. Check out the website below. You are more than welcome, and encouraged, to take a formal tour of the House and Gardens when it is open to the public on Friday and Sunday. You can also come early to the ceremony at 2:30 pm and do a self guided tour of the grounds and first floor of the house. If you want to come back after the wedding and take the formal tour of the entire house and grounds, we will have discount coupons at the ceremony you can use for a guided tour. https://www.moffattladd.org/

Question

I don't see much on your Registry, what should I get you as a wedding gift?

Answer

Many of you will be traveling a long distance; that is a great gift in itself! We have a lot of household items we have acquired over the years of living in sin and owning our house out of wedlock. We have a few key items we’d love, but if you don’t see anything on the registry and still wish to gift us in some way, a donation to the honeymoon fund would be appreciated (via Zola which will take a percentage, or check, Venmo, pay pal are fine too.)

Question

Is the ceremony and reception indoor or outdoor?

Answer

The ceremony will be outdoors (in a garden with uneven cobblestone walkways) and the reception will be inside at a more handicap accessible location.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We are limiting children to those of family only. We love your kids and we hope our wedding gives you the opportunity to have a nice evening away 🙂!

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Dress to impress! No one has ever been turned away at a wedding for wearing a suit, tux, cocktail dress, formal dress, etc. (Louisa will be wearing a wedding dress and Joe will be in a dapper suit, if that helps you with what you should wear 😉.) Be aware that the wedding day will require some walking so take that into account when picking your wedding shoes.
