Flight

ATH

This is the best place to fly into as it's the closest airport to the port of Pireaus. By ferry, from Athens: You will need to take a ferry from the Athens port of Pireaus. Getting to Piraeus is easy: either by taxi, or using the Athens metro (line 1, terminal station at the port) or the X96 bus. There are two types of ferries: the “slow” ferry (4h 30mins to Serifos), or the “fast” ferry (3h to Serifos). You can book ferry tickets online (slow ferry tickets must be picked up at the port ticket kiosk, even when purchased online), or buy them at a travel agency in Athens. If you have time in Athens, we recommend the latter. We recommend booking the fast ferry via https://bit.ly/2Ld3gJk where you can book and receive your e-tickets as well as check-in online which makes it a lot easier. The port of Serifos is Livadi. This is where most of the rooms/accommodation are located.

House Or Rental

Airbnb

Accommodation on Greek islands consist of both hotels and rooms for rent. Rooms for rent are typically many more than actual hotels, and is the most likely type of accommodation. Think of them as Airbnb… While in Serifos, you have three accommodation location options: Stay in Livadi/Livadakia. This makes things easier as you will be near the port, near the banks and shops (pharmacy, super market, restaurants, etc.), and near the car/bike rental place. We recommend that you stay in Livadi. Stay in Chora. This means that you will be staying at the beautiful village of Chora, with easy access to bars and coffee shops there, as well as a great view. However, you will definitely need a rental car if you want to visit the beach (and in order to come to the wedding!) Stay near one of the beaches. This is a good option for easy access to the beach, and for being at a quiet, secluded place. You would need a car to commute to Livadi/Livadakia/Chora.

The best way to book accommodation in Serifos is either through www.booking.com (or through www.airbnb.com as mentioned above)

Rental Car

Rental Car & Public Transporation

Serifos has two main villages: Livadi (the port) and Chora (the main village). Getting to and from the villages and the beaches requires means of transportation. There are very few taxis on the island. The best way to get around is either by rental car, or rental motorcycle. You may arrange rentals with one of the agencies on the island: Coralli, Blue Bird, Krinas Travel, and Kartsonakis.Rental car/bike reservations are typically done by phone or maybe email (let us know and we can help). We recommend booking early, as there’s a limited number of vehicles on the island. Going from Livadi (the port village) up the windy road to Chora (the village on top of the mountain) is also possible using the public bus. The bus costs about 1.80 euro each way, and during the summer it runs from 7:45am until midnight. If you enjoy hiking, you can always hike up the mountain – although taking the bus up and hiking down might easier! The hiking path has signs – as do most other hiking paths in Serifos.
