Amazement Square
Amazement Square is a four-story, hands-on children's museum downtown, focused on learning through play with interactive exhibits like a multi-story tower with slides and a zip-line, and activities for science, art, and imagination.
Bacon Street Bagels
Fresh-made New York–style bagels and breakfast sandwiches, with house-made spreads and coffee. There are actually two locations; a food truck in Forest and a shop downtown.
Blackwater Creek Trail
Lizzie and Huck’s favorite place to walk when she lived downtown! Notable spots include the Hollins Mill tunnel, Percival’s Island, and Riverfront Park. Start downtown or by Longhorne Rd (also right by the Farm Basket)
The Cavalier Store (“The Cav”)
Iconic Lynchburg dive with burgers, seasoned fries, and walls covered in license plates—fun, casual, and very local. Heads up: it’s famously cash-only (there’s an ATM on-site).
Colonial Hills Golf Club
A scenic 18-hole course just in Forest, perfect for a relaxed round with mountain views before or after wedding festivities. Lizzie's brothers worked here and her best friend Delaney's father-in-law is the golf pro!
Farm Basket
The Farm Basket is a beloved Lynchburg destination featuring a charming café with lunch fare (try the pimento cheese) as well as a gift shop— perfect for a relaxed lunch or browsing unique Virginia products during your visit! Fun fact: Lizzie’s godmother Camille has family ties to the Farm Basket (her Grandmother Flippin started it as roadside fruit stand in 1964)
Joe Bean's
A local drive thru coffee shop with multiple locations across town with espresso drinks, brewed coffee, smoothies, and tasty bakery treats. Perfect for fueling up before exploring Lynchburg or on your drive. Lizzie’s bestie Caroline likes a coastal caramel mocha 1/4 sweet - 10/10 order!
My Dog Duke's Diner
A fun, dog-friendly spot in beautifully restored downtown Lynchburg that’s beloved for breakfast, brunch, specialty coffee, and a creative lunch menu — perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family while exploring the city.
Hike the Peaks of Otter
Staying another day or two? If you have time and want to hike, go to the Peaks! About 30 minutes from Lynchburg, Peaks of Otter is a beautiful mountain destination with hiking trails for all levels. Walk the easy Abbott Lake loop or tackle Sharp Top for sweeping Blue Ridge views. A perfect half-day adventure with fall foliage and scenic overlooks.
National D-Day Memorial
A moving and beautifully designed tribute honoring The Bedford Boys who served on June 6, 1944, set against the Blue Ridge foothills. A meaningful stop for history lovers during your visit.
Starr Hill On Main
Starr Hill On Main is a great local spot to grab a drink while exploring downtown Lynchburg. With a rotating selection of Virginia-brewed beers and a laid-back atmosphere, be sure to try the Northern Lights, one of Alex’s favorites on tap.
Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest
Historic summer home of Pres Thomas Jefferson. Great spot for history and architecture lovers! There’s another trail that heads to Wyndhurst, home to Outside the Cone (ice cream), the Muse (coffee), and former office location of Hunter Law PLLC
Texas Inn
Old-school Lynchburg staple known for quick, classic comfort food est. 1935. Great for an easy lunch or late-night bite - cheesy western all the way! When Alex and Lizzie were messaging on a dating app about Lynchburg, the “The T Room” was the first thing Alex brought up to establish credibility.
