We're Getting Married!

As her father would say, Lizzie “ordered Alex up” one day on a dating app called Hinge. What started as messages about growing up in Central Virginia quickly turned into dinner plans—and then an unexpected pickleball date. When Alex mentioned he was unavailable Sunday afternoon because he had a match, Lizzie, new to the game and eager to improve, promptly invited herself along, hoping for some free one-on-one coaching. (Alex was playing in three pickleball leagues at the time and had been a competitive tennis player in his teens.) Lizzie was ready to get to dinking, but Alex suggested grabbing a drink first so they could actually get to know each other before playing at Austin Pickle Ranch. During that first outing, Alex mentioned how he returns to Virginia “once a quarter” to visit his parents and his 94-year-old grandmother...music to Lizzie’s ears! They bonded over their love for SiriusXM country and rock stations, the Blue Ridge Mountains, their dogs (Huck, Lizzie’s lab, and Chester, Alex’s whippet) and a shared dream of eventually returning to the East Coast to be closer to family. It didn’t take long to realize how much they had in common. Not only do they both have family in Charlottesville and Lynchburg, they discovered they were living just 2.8 miles apart in Round Rock, Texas. Their shared love for home, family, dogs, and careers in Human Resources (Lizzie in Talent Acquisition and Alex in Compensation) quickly turned into love for each other. In just a year and a half, they have filled their days with laughter, adventures, and learning what it means to choose each other again and again. It’s gone by in a blink, and Alex and Lizzie couldn’t be more excited for a lifetime together.
