Vieques is home to the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world. After recovering from Hurricane Maria, the bio bay is brighter than ever before. The natural phenomenon is best viewed when there is little to no visible moon in the sky. There are many guided tours available along the Malecon including: Abe's Snorkeling and Bio-Bay Tours, Black Beard Sports, Jak Water Sports, as well as many others.
The beaches in Vieques are constantly ranked among the best in the Caribbean. Vieques may be a small island, however there are many more beaches than you could possibly get to in just one visit to the island. Each beach is different with sand ranging from pure white to sparkling soft black sand. You'll find some of the most quiet, scenic, and secluded beaches in Vieques. Our all-time favorite beach on the island is Playa La Chiva. The water is sometimes as clear as a swimming pool and is usually as secluded as all the other beaches. We also love Playa Sunbay because of it's beautiful palm trees, clear blue water, and Arenamar's Sunbay Cafe's pina coladas! For a list and summary of all the beaches in Vieques, check out our friend's website at Viequesbeachmap.com
You'll notice that there are plenty of horses roaming throughout the island. Explore the island by going on a horseback riding tour through the sands, trails, and hilltops for the best island views.
