Walk across the Cooper River on the beautiful Ravenel Bridge. The entire length is 2.7 miles. Park at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, or at The Cigar Factory on East Bay Street and walk the whole thing or to the mid-way and back. This is one of our favorite weekend activities!
Like history? Check out the USS Yorktown and the Naval & Maritime Museum at Patriot's Point.
Want a guide to show you the city? Want to learn why Charleston is considered one of the most haunted cities in America? Try a day-time walking tour or an after-dark ghost tour with Bulldog! They are wonderful.
The Angel Oak is truly spectacular and worth a visit. It's a Southern live oak located in Angel Oak Park on Johns Island near Charleston. The tree is estimated to be 400-500 years old. It stands 66.5 ft tall, measures 28 ft in circumference, and produces shade that covers 17,200 square feet. Its longest branch is 187 ft in length.
The first place we got oysters in Charleston and a favorite to this day. Sit at the bar to skip the line! Liz's fave: the BLT seafood tower (so much crab!). Trev's fave: toss up between the lobstah roll and the fish & chips (we didn't think we needed to say it, but, just in case, also...oysters).
Eat on the water downtown! Beautiful views are matched by incredible food. We LOVE the mussels!
Two-level rooftop bar with gorgeous view of sunset over the city! One of our favorite places to unwind after work.
This is our go-to for a delicious, casual, and reasonably-priced bite near our house. They have awesome cocktails and amazing tattoo-themed decor! Liz's fave: the Caesar with salmon (seriously, the dressing is incredible). Trev's fave: the steak sandwich.
How happy were we when we realized we lived 5 minutes from a combo bar, restaurant, AND bowling alley?!?! This place is a blast!
Gourmet market by day and one of our favorite bars by night. It's in the Cigar Factory, a renovated old...you guessed it...cigar factory on East Bay Street. Their food is delicious AND they have arcade games and an indoor bocce court! Liz's fave: fried brussels (Liz is a brussel sprout aficionado so when she says these are the best brussels she's ever had, it's no joke). Trev's fave: the Mash Burger.
It's a bar AND a bakery...'nuff said. Try their ice cream paninis for a neat (and delicious) twist on an ice cream sandwich. Our fave: the cannoli.
It's an ice cream sandwich with pie filling in it!!!! Try one, just do it. Liz's fave: salted caramel apple. Trev's fave: toss up between chocolate chip cookie dough (you guessed it, there is a whole layer of cookie dough!) and s'mores. PS - There's also a location on King above Calhoun (stop by after Ink N Ivy).
Make sure to check out the famous Folly Beach fishing pier. Grab a drink at The Pier restaurant, or simply walk it and enjoy the view!
A hidden Folly Beach gem. It's not fancy, but it's certainly delicious and fun!
Many say it's the best restaurant in Folly, and it has gotten rave reviews recently. Food is as yummy as it is whacky.
