If a hotel isn't your speed, there are plenty of Airbnb and Vrbo options in the Twin Cities! We'd be happy to recommend fun nearby neighborhoods to stay in. For getting around during the weekend, a rental car may be most convenient. There are also bus stops within one block from the ceremony and reception venues. Metro Transit's app (downloadable here: https://www.metrotransit.org/app) is a good resource for figuring out the best bus/lightrail route from where you are. Lyft and Uber are also readily available in the cities.
