In the growing age of online dating, Katie and Liz swiped right in 2015. Their first date was in Brookline, MA at a local restaurant, Hops & Scotch. The conversation lasted 4 hours into the evening - they even forgot to eat dinner! It was then that Liz knew she was ready to sign up for a long journey of never-ending chats with Katie and loving on her dog, Olana. Katie was as equally excited to embark on new adventures as a dynamic duo. In 2017, we realized that we both had a long time ambition of moving to Seattle, and decided to make the move together. We packed up our belongings (and Olana) and drove west where we moved into our first apartment together in First Hill, Seattle. Within a few weeks, we knew there was a gap in our newly-found family, which led us to adopt Ella, our currently 5-year-old Doberman Mix. Our love for each other has continued to grow as we have made new friends, built new communities, started new careers, and explored new places together. In September of 2020, just after our 5 year anniversary, Katie planned a COVID safe weekend getaway with a close group of friends on an island coast overlooking the Puget Sound. Katie nervously got down on one knee, looked Liz in the eyes, and mustered the infamous word - “Hi”. With a big smile on her face and tears in her eyes, Liz eagerly took the ring and placed it on her own finger while saying the even more infamous word – “yes!”. After the nerves settled, Katie recited what she had intended to say (Liz still said yes) and we celebrated amongst friends. A few months later while visiting Cape Cod, Liz returned the gesture during a gorgeous sunset and proposed to Katie (just to really seal the deal). Together we enjoy exploring new places, trying new foods and activities, and spending time with our very spoiled dogs. Most of all, we love making each other laugh and navigating through life’s greatest challenges together.
